If he has the choice of playing in our development squad vs a PL development squad, he’ll be off. The only way we’ll keep him is by offering a clearer path to first team football.

Sadly it's more likely to be like this:

No, it's not about algorithms (I'm sure they play a part, but Ganesh doesn't mention them). It's about how publishing our opinions online has made it much more difficult for us to change our minds. Ganesh writes: "One effect of social media gets too little attention. In the past, a citizen who took a political view they later came to regret could dump it without much embarrassment, like Homer Simpson backing into that hedge. This is because almost no one (including perhaps themself) would remember their initial stance. Now, there is likely to be a digital trail, in the form of a tweet, Facebook post or WhatsApp message. "We have, as the kids say, the “receipts”. And so the social cost of changing one’s mind, the friction, is more than it was. We are all columnists now, even if the readership are just friends, family and colleagues. "In 2003, a majority, not just a plurality, of Brits supported the Iraq war, according to YouGov. Over a decade later, the country “remembered” taking a different view. Nowadays, you’d sooner find someone who confessed to siding with the hunter against Bambi’s mother than backing the invasion. It is hard to know whether to feel horrified by this patent self-deception, or nostalgic for a time when people could slide in and out of viewpoints without leaving an incriminating residue. "Either way, whether the cause is tech or a hunger for group membership in an atomised world, the effect is the same. A large share of those who turned to Maga around a decade ago will be there until the end."

This piece from Janan Ganesh includes some interesting observations on why voters are becoming much more partisan and entrenched in their positions, and how social media has contributed to this: https://www.ft.com/content/aef2dc1a-c8d1-4850-b59e-04758493cc09

Which podcast?

And if he's sacked 12 games into the season and replaced with a manager with a completely different approach who doesn't rate the squad, what then?

A new documentary will be broadcast at 9pm tonight on Channel Four looking into this case, specifically at the evidence against Christian Brueckner: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/madeleine-mccann-mystery-shrouds-christian-35181566

Would Cleverley’s name even be mentioned if he hadn’t played for us? Does his brief record as a manager alone qualify him for the job?
-
Flekken may be leaving.
-
Yeah but apart from that, is he reliable?
-
Given Dyche's availability I suspect he'd have been brought in by now if the club were seriously interested in him.
-
You may be right, but I'm a little sceptical about that tweet from Tavolieri. He clearly states that Leicester have 'just set' the release clause for Bilal, which doesn't make any sense - if he has a clause, it will have been set when he signed his contract. If he's not referring to a release clause but merely the amount the club would let him go for, then €26M seems suspiciously low to me.

Hopefully we've learned our lesson from the Cooper debacle. Trying to recruit another manager on the cheap would be an a daft move - if we need to pay compensation for our first choice candidate, we should do it. Appointing the right manager is more important than any player transfer.
-
That mistake cost us big time this season. Going down the same route again would be self-harming to the point of suicide.
-
Yes, £25m sounds about right. I'd be amazed and delighted if we got north of £30m for him. I'll be sad to see him go, but Stolarczyk's readiness for the first team softens the blow considerably. I'd rather sell Mads than Bilal. He'll go with no hard feelings and I'm sure will always get a good reception from our fans.

Who is absolute tool behind the Leicester Till I Die X account? He had a hissy fit in public yesterday because apparently he’d sent Matt Piper some DMs and Piper hadn’t responded. Jeez have some self respect, man
-
Given that there is no chance whatsoever that this journalist has been told Bilal’s ‘release clause’ by anybody who would know. I’d say you’re probably right.
-
The worst case - but not impossible - scenario is that Vardy joins another Championship club and Daka becomes our first choice striker. If that happened, Vardy would at least double the number of goals Daka scores next season.
-
His book value means we’d need to be offered £35-40m to make it worthwhile. Do you see anybody offering that?
-
Only if they offer us enough money, which they probably won’t.

Yes, it's still not clear whether we passed PSR for the period ending June 2024, but if there was a breach it was likely very small (most experts at the time seemed to think it was very tight). So a heavy points deduction for that period is unlikely. Re: the period ending 2023, the ideal outcome for us would be for the PL to win the arbitration case and impose a points deduction on us before the end of this season. However it's probably too late for that now. The big question is: if the arbitration process upholds the verdict at our appeal (ie, that we weren't a PL club at the time), does jurisdiction automatically pass onto the EFL or is that also a legal grey area? I don't know the answer to this question but I'm very interested to find out. I worry for the current period because I'm not convinced we'll raise enough from player sales before the end of next month, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see on that one...

Wrong thread

If you look at the original article, Mick Brown has the byline and also refers to himself in the 3rd person in the text. So he is both the author and the the source. He even describes himself as being very well connected within the game. Did he interview himself? Did he sit on one side of a table to ask the questions and then move to the other side to answer them? At the end of the interview did he shake hands with himself and politely wish himself a good journey home?

It would be a bit extreme to make him actually undergo surgery as a smokescreen for a transfer. Also I'm sure I read that somewhere that Chelsea aren't interested any more and are focusing on other targets...
