  1. It would be a short-sighted, unimaginative and uninspiring appointment - ie, a very plausible one from our board.
  2. They don’t. @Paninistickers must have been thinking of civil cases. In German criminal cases, the prosecution must prove the defendant’s guilt to a similar standard as ‘beyond reasonable doubt’, although they don’t call it that. It’s also apparently harder to get a conviction in Germany because judges decide the outcome and they can be harder to convince than juries.
  3. This is not quite true. You can be convicted on circumstantial evidence - it happens all the time. But you need enough of it to convince the judges (judges decide the verdict in Germany). It seems like they feel like they’re just below the threshold of evidence they need to be confident of a conviction. They don’t need a body or DNA evidence to convict him - a bit more circumstantial evidence may be enough to tilt the balance.
  4. I prefer your interpretation.
  5. If that’s really the reason we won’t be appointing anyone before July, if at all.
  6. This sounds worryingly like somebody at the club is briefing that Nelson may have to be sold… https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-city-transfer-best-alleviates-10171131
  7. Is there a ‘Failed abysmally in recent attempt to manage a PL team through stubborn adherence to failing tactics and a chronic inability organise a defence’ box?
  8. Both Russell and Dyche are out of work and have been available without compensation for some time. If the club were really keen on either of them, you’d think they’d have brought them in already. At least that’s what I keep trying to tell myself…
  9. It would also prevent us from initiating the major reset we so badly need by forcing us to hold onto players we desperately need to get out of the club. It’s incredible that anyone thinks this would be a good thing for us.
  10. The documentary was deeply disturbing. It’s hard to get your head around how a human being can become as depraved as that. He’s beyond vile. German police have a ton of circumstantial evidence that strongly suggests Brueckner kidnapped and murdered Madeleine, but it probably falls just short of a slam dunk conviction and they want to make the case as watertight as possible. I suspect the latest charge against him is intended to keep him inside for a bit longer while they continue to build the case. If he’s released he’ll probably flee Germany for somewhere with no extradition treaty - most likely somewhere where he thinks he can carry on abusing children. Agreed - I struggle to think of another case that has attracted as many breathtakingly stupid trolls as this one has over the years.
  11. Did they?
  12. Hold on a second...
  13. I'd do it personally, even if it meant we had to cough up a year's salary for him to bugger off. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/centre-back-contract-could-cancelled-10168430
  14. Them stats don't lie. That'll be £30m please, Everton.
  15. He will be by the time this cardinal has finished with him…
  16. On the premise that he's a coach, not a manager. Bournemouth sacked him when his stock was still high because they felt he didn't have the attributes to be a successful manager, and they haven't looked back since. He initially did well at Wolves but it completely disintegrated because he couldn't control the dressing room. Pereira came in and completely transformed them. O'Neil seems a nice guy and may be a decent coach, but he does not have the character to be a manager - especially in an environment as challenging as Seagrave. I have never said no points deduction - that's always been a possibility and it remains so. I have predicted no transfer embargo and I still don't see how they could impose one, but Rob Tanner seems to think they will.
  17. He would be a horrendous choice.
  18. My granddad was in the RAF and worked at a base in the Cotswolds. The base was regularly subject to raids by the Luftwaffe, during which everybody would pile into an underground bomb shelter accessible by a ladder down from a hatch door. One of my granddad's comrades was severely claustrophobic and used to stand at the top of the ladder with his head above ground during raids as he was too scared to go further down. During one raid a plane was shot down and the debris scattered across the airfield at great speed, decapitating the poor chap at the top of the ladder. On another occasion my granndad was among a group sent to locate a German pilot who had parachuted from his burning plane. They did find him, but unfortunately he was just a smouldering corpse when they got there. He never spoke about the war to my mum or her siblings, but was happy to tell these stories to his grandchildren. We were utterly fascinated by them.
  19. We both are at the moment, and the article clearly states that the club they're referring to is Southampton.
  20. He looked about 30 when he was 17. Michael Owen was playing at the top level at a similar age and still looks young for his age. Genetics play a major part.
  21. He doesn't say why or even if he expects it to be imposed this summer or later on in the season when we submit our 2025/26 projected accounts. It's maddening - I wish journalists would not just lob in these casual comments without backing them up.
  22. And Monga will be 16 by the time next season starts.
  23. Top is Chairman and CEO of the King Power group.
  24. Citing Yamal as an example of how a 15-year-old can play first team men’s football ≠ saying that Monga is as good as Yamal.
  25. I have a suspicion that Cooper was so keen on the job he told Top he would would play possession football even though it wasn’t really his thing. Then when he started working with the squad he opted for a hybrid of Enzo’s style and his own style, which resulted in the chaotic football we saw in the first few months of the season. RVN isn’t really a possession-obsessed manager either. He apparently favours an aggressive press and quick transitions, but feels the current squad isn’t fit or quick enough to play that way. Interestingly Martin said in his recent interview on MNF that he’ll probably try a more direct style in his next job.
