Share a lot of thoughts here. Starting to get some of the excitement back about what the season may bring... ...but I expect that'll last until 3pm on Sunday when we see Faes, Soumare, BCDR and too many others to mention are in the matchday squad. Difference for me vs this time 2 years ago was how stale it feels from top to bottom; there was still hope at the start of the last champo season that we'd learned from our mistakes and it could have been the start of a much needed reset. Last season completely destroyed that. And it looks like the squad we ended that shambolic season with will be broadly the same.

Similarly to the last time we were here, if we can start well and build momentum, we'll have more than enough about us to beat most sides in the division. The question would be what we're up against end of the season; do we imagine Saints / Ipswich / Sheff U hitting 90-100 points, and if so can we better that? Even our painfully exposed weaknesses from the season just gone won't seem half as bad against the Prestons, Oxfords etc of this league.

Hollywood or not, he's signed to be a backup keeper for a team playing in League One last year. And yet Rodgers and Ruud thought he'd be worthy of starts for us in the Prem??

We're in a worse position than we were 2 years ago playing squad wise, but I'm afraid the chasm between the divisions is such that Vestegaard et al will be fine in teams at the top end of the table. Remember for most of the promotion season we played him in a high line, but still had the best goals conceded in the league! Teams are worse at exploiting our weaknesses, both in chances created and finishing them off. Wait to see BCDR and Ayew near the top of the Goals and Assists charts Very unhealthy position football has itself in, and it only gets worse with Club World Cup charade etc

Although I’m sure the culture of mediocrity means we haven’t maximised our possible marketing reach or commercial income streams, even with the best deals you’re looking at a number in the low tens of millions as an increase in the bottom line. It pales in to insignificance to losing the prem tv deal money or spending £40m on an asset who walks for free. The football operations side needs the lions share of blame.

It’s difficult to find the words to express Vardy’s impact on the pitch, or his loyalty to stay when most jump ship as soon as they get the chance. Tonight’s for remembering all the good times and being grateful we were there to see it. Sadly tomorrow is about realising we’re in a sorry state and change is needed. I thought after we went down with Adams (we couldn’t wring anymore out of the quality left from the O’Neill years), that we’d not ever hit those heights of league cups and top half finishes again. This is mad. Say what you want about the level, he still needs a close touch and a sure finish to score in a number of those situations. Things we haven't seen here! He is the ultimate confidence player; when its gone, he's useless. If it's there we would have been in business. We're the even shitter version of Man U; sign a striker, ruin them.

I think we're so specialist at this you need sub categories: Complete Waste of Time (barely played) - Toss up between Edouard and Bertrand Lack of value from Fee Paid / Recouped - Already likely to be Skipp I'm afraid to say; otherwise Daka or Slimani as they are our 4th and 5th most expensive signings ever and we'll get got £0 sell on fee for either. They haven't done nothing when playing, but nowhere near enough return on investment. Actively making us worse (AKA the Danny Ward trophy) - Ward obvs, but Faes has a strong case given how much he's played during our demise

Some of you mentioning lack of activity means threadbare squad for the Champ next season; I wish it were the case! We're losing very few this summer; not many out of contract, and only two assets anybody would buy / take on the wages for in Mads and Bilal. Anecdotally I see perceptions that we're continually after managers being sacked (yes, Cooper, but also dissatisfaction with Maresca last season). And that we boo our own players, e.g. Ward. As mentioned by others, fans are drawing from limited experiences like highlights and when we play at their ground. Personally I don't think we are entitled - in fact most of our fan base has been not entitled enough to force the change we needed to kick on. Also the poverty chanting, our clappers and goal music. All of which is shite and needs to be binned.

The empty seats are noticeable. I thought midweek maybe because an evening game etc. Perhaps some of our fans are showing some backbone and voting with their feet? Anybody at the game seeing empty seats near the middle and back of the stands too?

Whatever happens, I think degreasing the team's cadres should be our number 1 priority this summer

Look no further that the 'woe is me' statement on our relegation in 2023. And the complete lack of transparency on anything that happened as part of this 'review': Over the coming days and weeks, we need to reflect on the processes and decisions that have brought us to this point. What we learn from this experience must convert into action that makes us stronger and prevents this happening to us again in the future. I agree with what others have said - I don't think he knows what he's doing. What is the 'action' that's been taken to 'make us stronger'? Although I think PSR is only a small reason we're in the shit, it's not like there's anything mentioned publicly that apportions blame to anything. So what is it they think has gone wrong to try and fix it? Where is the fighting spirit to make us better? Even though he's a total tosspot, even the Forest owner was out in the media pointing fingers at refs or getting rid of backroom staff in an attempt to make changes, which sadly seem to have worked. Any other business (and football is a business now) heads are rolling at this level of regression. Nothing of the sort at KPFC.

I thought he played well last night - with well defined as to ‘the best of his ability’. The level of that ability and the fact he appears to be a starter now is the fault of KP / transfer strategy, not Jordan Ayew.

Can't agree that he's good enough at this level. He has some characteristics that make him look adequate in patches. But look at his overall body of work; he's far too often caught out of position, dives in when its too risky, or is just too casual in dangerous situations (backing off until there was a nice angle to score vs Plymouth last season particularly stands out). He's not some 22 year old, he'll be 27 by the end of the season. If he hasn't ironed those things out now, you've got to doubt it'll happen.

Our defending is just so passive. There’s so much more time and space than there should be for their attackers. We don’t make contact and they get free hits in our box. Agree with others, we were lucky that scoreline wasn’t worse. Although I was happy with the starting 11 and return of ricardo as an inverted fullback, we’ve again seen cooper has no idea how to change it up. Forest have that in their manger clearly, chalk and cheese halves.

Feel for you. I grew up in south Leics so wasn’t exposed to what you were. Later in life I’ve come across a number of folks growing up in a north Leics postcode yet gleefully supporting forest. Worst glory supporters ever! Agree on the city. I like Trent bridge and where it sits near the river and city ground. Just a shame what the stadium is filled with!

Fair point. But given the option I’d rather never play them and know we haven’t lost than the beat them vs lose to them chance!!

I hate this game. I can’t stand forest; their delusions of grandeur, the harking back to some bygone era, the fact they were slightly less shit than relegated teams in the last few years so fluked their way to survival. I don’t like being in the same division as them because it gives them a chance to beat us. If I had my way they’d be rotting as far down the leagues as possible. In most of my life I have to be reasonable and balanced - I am the most partisan and blinkered when it comes to this lot. Not that it shows 🤣
