Absolutely agree, except the majority thought Coady was a starting level CB that filled a leadership vacuum that we had at the time. Revisionist history to suggest otherwise. People were upset at the amount we paid but we needed a player “like” him. He got injured preseason and other players took their chances, and Coady was never the same.

But we weren’t in the Prem when we signed him.

To be fair when we signed him we had no idea Jannik would then do 180 and become our most important CB last year. I was looking forward to a Coady Souttar partnership personally but was happily proven wrong by Vesty. Still would like Souttar in though.

My issue with Rudkin is it sets a tone for the rest of the joint. We are painted to be a ruthless club by the media because we get rid of managers despite them having success in the past. “You’re little old Leicester, you should be grateful.” The incompetence from the board feeds the culture, no one is held accountable, we make no changes and pretend everything is fine. Why wouldn’t players feel like they can get away with anything?

PSR rules mean you can invest into facilities, differently to transfer fees and wages for players. It was never an either/or between the two. The reason we couldn’t invest into the playing squad was our poor investment into players in the first place. Really not sure more money going into that kitty would’ve helped, with the people running the show remaining in place.

Completely correct - we can double dip. BC.Game and whatever they’ve paid (IF we were smart we would’ve requested a lot of this upfront), and then presumably King Power, that can legally pay the pro-rata market rate set by the deal with BC Game. We’ve had it proven that a front of shirt sponsorship with an unrelated party is worth £xm. We’re about 32% through the Premier League season, so KP could fund a deal worth 68% of what BCgame paid

I beg your pardon? I’m not refusing to accept anything. I can understand that making signings has been hard, and we aren’t a strong squad. It’s also clear that Cooper didn’t sign off on every transfer, there’s no way he identified Okoli for example. However, who was the one saying we needed experienced players like BDCR, Edouard, Skipp? Real game changers them. Who then failed to put together a coherent game plan with the signings coming in? Who left then failed to adapt, like leaving Ricardo on the bench despite a huge amount of our goals coming from the right side? At what point have we looked like a team that was playing greater than the sum of its parts? At what point has Cooper and our staff looked like they’ve turned an existing player into something better than what he was previously (no, Soumare’s 5 mins don’t count). That’s how value is made. I am in no way defending Rudkin/Whelan, they are responsible straying from what made us sustainable as a club. But you cannot honestly say that Coopers performance was down to the squad at his disposal and that our expectations were too high? You say we can only expect us to “outplay” two teams, surely you know that’s not how football works. You expect your team to have no fight, no desire, no grit? To be out worked? To sit back and defend, and have no counter punch? You sir, are an ostrich.

I ****ing hate threads like this. Trying to justify absolute dross. Any sports fan needs two things from their team. 1. Hope 2. A plan Doesn’t matter how low you set the standards of hope, if there’s a plan to get to it, fans are happy. When no plan is communicated, we fans conjure up our own, and hope for that. Personally, I hope to see our team survive, whilst rejuvenating the squad and capitalising on our talented youth for sustainable success. Cooper had no plan for that. I would have accepted solely survival. Cooper had no plan for that. A plan and some hope, it’s all we need.
