He’s the inverse Yakubu!

You’re right we wouldn’t be improving the starting 11 and agreed that’s the type of signing we should be avoiding, BUT you also cannot guarantee that Alves/Braybrooke are good enough backup for a Prem relegation battle. If we get a couple go down with injury, we need to be able to rely on a solid back up. You’re right they could’ve played under Enzo’s system, but this is also the Enzo that didn’t rotate despite having good options available to him. This season is too important to second guess. Can we say Nelson, Alves, Braybrooke are going to consistently positively contribute when they get their chance? Of course not! Can we do that with other signings, also no! But it’s less of a risk. Lets not ruin young players by throwing them in to the deep end too early.

I want to see an academy player in the first team

We all just forgetting about Hamza as well? -
Think after Southgate we need some chaos. Bring in Bielsa.

So Called World Class Players that you never rated
ACF replied to Leicesterpool's topic in General Football and Sport
Not sure if we could say World Class, but never understood Oscar. -
FFS 😂 didn’t know THAT was the reason he left

Well done @Mark, some achievement to run an online community for this long.

IF we see him as a first team/sub option, then £30m over 5 year contract, with those stats, makes a hell of a lot of sense. Only a £6m dent. Risk is only there if he doesn’t kick on and we think he’s a squad filler.

Development/Youth Squads 2024/2025 Thread - U18/U21
ACF replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not a single update about our academy players from the club since this thread started. They don’t care about us fans. Why did they even bother spending all of that money on a state of the art training ground etc etc -
WE’RE FINISHING TOP HALF* FOOKIN COME ON *of the football league pyramid

Don’t worry, you’re not that far away! When you purchase the player, how we pay doesn’t matter (installments etc). The value of the player, determined by the total fee, is spread over the length of the players contract (to a max 5 years). In accounting terms, we’ve paid for an asset for that time period and can spread that cost out over the ‘expected life’ of that asset. I realise expected life is a horrible term when we’re talking about people don’t yell at me. This is called the amortisation period. When we sell, we no longer have that asset, so we have to account the remaining expected years into the accounting period. Which is why the Souttar example is perfect, it’s not a charge of £3m on the balance sheet if we sell this year, it’s £11m (taking your word for it, its 7am I’m not willing to do actual maths). Now obviously if we sold him for £11m to break even, there are additional wages/bonuses/fees we could save on but we wouldn’t make a transfer profit. Which when we’re in the position we are, we need to find transfer profits, not just cut losses. Selling any player that doesn’t have/are past their amortisation period (KDH, Vardy, Ricardo (I assume), Stolarcyzk, Nelson) is the simplest way to transfer profit. Either that or a sudden link with the Saudis willing to spend £65m on Danny Ward.

Finance vs Accounting. Cash flow is different to book values.

Trust me I know I’ve been laugh for months that Van’t Schip, who couldn’t manage my Melbourne boys for years, ended up at the helm - and did okay! But it’s still Ajax!
-
Potter would be the best feasible and I think that’s still a massive stretch. Turned down Ajax for Leicester? No chance The state of this place though, suggesting Mourinho and Hoeneß as possibilities 😂
-
They can absolutely have him for £45m
-
You’re saying we wouldn’t go for a first team winger and move Mavididi to the bench?
-
Strong disagree. You need culture leaders in any business for everyone else to follow suit. His calmness, maturity and leadership certainly played a big part in steadying the ship towards the end of the year. His interviews with media were class, never complained about not playing. When you’ve got that attitude from a leader, others follow. It’s what we lacked in our relegation season!
-
Our FFP situation means we just can’t keep players just in case, not shifting deadwood is part of the reason we’re in this mess. So the question is, do we think we can recruit better player than young Kasey? Full credit to him, end of last season, this was a much easier discussion. He’s developed excellently this year. Is this his ceiling?
-
I would sell purely for FFP reasons, not because I don’t think he’ll be a decent squad player. He has higher sale value that’s pure profit. Eases the burden on some other sales we’ll have to make. Wish him all the best and will follow with great interest but unfortunately that’s the go at the moment.

not sure he went on the trip?

Think you’re grossly overestimating CFG. With Man City, they don’t have to worry, they put the required resources in, and listen to Pep. They have got massively lucky with Girona this year. Just a couple of examples that I’m aware of. Melbourne City - salary capped league, knocked out week one of playoffs. Sold off all young players prior to season (good thing, we want our players to move to Europe), replaced with a bunch of 30+ players on high wages, nothing to prove. Coach sacked, replaced with similar manager who has not improved the place or style of play at all. 2 year extension granted. Formerly mentioned old players are now leaving, youth not been given a shot all season. Next season looking shit. Troyes - looking like a second consecutive relegation after keeping former Melbourne manager in charge for way too long. Fans throwing flares at players, who started throwing them back. Savio, Gironas star this year, is actually a Troyes player on loan. Will never pull the shirt on as he’s off to Man City. Troyes not happy about being used this way whilst they’re being booted down the leagues.

Brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

Any photos of the Sharky one?

Hopefully bought from the club by King Power at a ridiculous mark up, merch sales equaling £40m from Filbert toys 😂
