  1. No they'd just corrupt another sport already been tried with golf.
  2. It's always been that way but it used to be local businesses who had less money and who were mostly fans .
  3. Not forgetting changing the names of the players on our submission to the PL so we ended up with the wrong ones. It certainly wasn't RUdkin's fault as he helped us win the PL
  4. Yes I get that and I'm sure an element of financial jiggery pokery goes on everywhere I just can't believe that they can legitimately get given £880m+ from a State legally. So we could legitimately get a gift from the Thai government and it would be allowed to spend it how we wish.
  5. Can we get the Thai Government to give us some big cash apparently that's allowed.
  6. Bad Taste warning but it reminds me of this joke / shaggy dog story. (Couldn't be bother to write it all out from memory so this is Ai version) A train conductor is reckless and causes a major crash that kills several people. He is found guilty and sentenced to death by the electric chair. [1, 2, 3] For his final meal, he requests a single banana. He eats it, gets strapped into the electric chair, and the guards flip the switch. Sparks fly and smoke fills the room, but when it clears, the man is sitting there completely unharmed. Because he survived his execution, by law he is set free, and he manages to get his old job back. Predictably, being terrible at his job, he crashes another train and kills more people. He is put back on death row and sentenced to the electric chair a second time. For his last meal, he asks for two bananas. They strap him in, pull the switch, and once again—he survives. He is released yet again. Not long after, he manages to crash a third train, killing three more people. Back on death row, the executioner is furious. [1, 2] "I've had it with you and your stupid bananas!" the executioner yells. "You aren't getting a single bite to eat this time. We are strapping you in and doing this right now!" [1, 2] Against protocol, they strap him into the chair with no last meal at all. The switch is pulled, sparks fly, and smoke fills the room. When the smoke clears, the man is still sitting there completely fine. [1, 2] The executioner is absolutely speechless. The man looks up and says, "Oh, the bananas had nothing to do with it. I'm just a bad conductor."
  7. How can getting £800M + off of a state UAE to buy players be allowable by the PL rules. I just can't fathom how that can be justified apart from making a mockery of any attempt to creative a competitive league doesn't it allow foreign states the power to dictate the running of the league which is apparently what's happening with Man City
  8. Will Smallbone - three-year contract - (OS)
  9. Man City learning from the best.
  10. Winks, Fatawu, Daka - How the 21 players who left Leicester City are doing | Leicestershire Live Josh Holland Leicester City correspondent 01 Oct 2026 Leicester City brought in 14 players over the summer transfer window as part of their major overhaul of Russell Martin's playing squad. Dai Cornell's arrival after the window closed took that number to 15. After relegation from the Championship, a reshuffle was a must and as City welcomed new faces to the King Power Stadium, some left the club. Players with over 400 appearances between them last season departed and while some have moved to new clubs, others remain without a new home. So how are those that left this summer getting on at their new clubs so far? From those who Leicester sold, to those whose contracts of loans ended, here are the Foxes' summer exits and their starts to the season... Abdul Fatawu - Ipswich Fatawu has done fairly well in the Premier League since moving to Ipswich. He registered an assist in their 5-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford before helping them beat Crystal Palace. The winger has started all five of their league games, but he won't feature in their next game after receiving a red card at Everton last time out. The 22-year-old was shown a second yellow card for diving by Stuart Attwell. He is currently ahead of Jaden Philogene-Bidace in Gary O'Neil's team. Harry Winks - Cagliari A return to Italy was confirmed for Winks in July and it's been a fairly decent start. Cagliari sit fourth in Serie A after winning four of their first five games, including a 2-1 win at Atalanta. Winks has started every game for Fabio Pisacane's side in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with the former City man unsurprisingly deployed at the base of their midfield, completing 91.3 per cent of his passes. Jeremy Monga - Man City The 17-year-old was always going to be snapped up by one of England's best teams and Manchester City beat Arsenal to sign him. Monga spent time with Enzo Maresca's squad during pre-season before sealing a loan move to Swansea City in the Championship. He is yet to make his first appearance for the Swans, though, with Vitor Matos yet to utilise the wonderkid. It'll be interesting to see how much football Monga will get in Wales. Patson Daka - Hamburg Daka left Leicester and secured a move to Bundesliga side Hamburg in July. During pre-season, he was bagging goals for fun and looked set to produce some incredible numbers, but the start to the domestic campaign has been far from ideal. Hamburg lost their opening three games against Dortmund, Mainz and RB Leipzig, conceding 12 goals and scoring none, with Daka starting two of those matches. He dropped to the bench for the 2-1 win over FC Koln, with former Nice striker Terem Moffi seemingly ahead of him. Hamza Choudhury - Sheffield United After appearing set to play a key role for Leicester, Choudhury secured a surprise return to Bramall Lane. He's played every game since his move, returning to right-back under Chris Wilder, but the Blades have endured a mixed start to the season. Wilder described Choudhury as a "winner" after his debut against Bolton Wanderers. The City academy graduate has looked happier in social media footage. Jordan Ayew - Sheffield United Joining Choudhury at Bramall Lane was Ayew. The forward, who scored just six goals last term, was without a club throughout August before bolstering Sheffield United's attacking options. In his three games for the Blades, Ayew has played 98 minutes and lost all three. His performance in the EFL Cup defeat to Fleetwood Town was met with criticism by supporters. Victor Kristiansen - Panathinaikos A very strange case. Kristiansen secured a loan move to Greek side Panathinaikos, which included an option to purchase that would become an obligation if he played 50 per cent of their league games. However, since reuniting with Jacob Neestrup, who he worked with at Copenhagen, Kristiansen is yet to make a single appearance this season. The left-back suffered a number of injuries last season, but Leicester will be hoping to see him feature soon. Fran Vieites - Marítimo Vieites didn't play a single minute for Leicester last season but did appear to be considered by Martin in pre-season. After Alex McCarthy's arrival, Vieites moved to Liga Portugal side Maritimo. After sitting on the bench for five straight games, the Spaniard made his debut before the international break following a run of three-straight defeats. They drew 1-1 at Gil Vicente and Vieites could be used as their first-choice going forward. Silko Thomas - Wycombe Thomas' contract expired in June and he was part of the first week of pre-season training under Martin. However, he left City and was quickly snapped up by League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers. The former Chelsea star started the season for the Chairboys before losing his spot in the starting XI. He came off the bench and got an assist against MK Dons, but Michael Duff's sacking has seen a change in system, leaving Thomas on the bench. Wanya Marcal - Stevenage Another player who left Leicester on a free and will come up against the Foxes this season is Marcal. After trials with Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough and Cambridge, the Portuguese was snapped up by Stevenage. He made his debut in the Jersey Mike's Trophy against Walsall, recording a goal and an assist. Marcal could feature against City next Tuesday in the competition. Chris Popov - Hartlepool Signed by City after being released by Manchester United, Popov is playing in the National League with Hartlepool United. However, like many of the players on this list, his start to the season has been far from ideal. They have won just three of their opening 11 games, losing their previous five. Popov scored the winner against Woking at the start of September and has been used out wide too. Henry Cartwright - Bradford City At Bradford, Cartwright's side sit top of League One after seven games. The midfielder hasn't started a league game yet and has come off the bench three times, but he started their EFL Cup wins over Premier League side Burnley and Leyton Orient. The Bantams lost their manager Graham Alexander this week and that could see their form collapse. They are also one game away from reaching the EFL Cup quarter-final, hosting Peterborough United in the fourth round later this month. Amani Richards - Barnsley Similar to Cartwright, Richards' move to Barnsley left many Leicester fans questioning the decision. The attacker left City after failing to break into the first team at the King Power Stadium and has started well at Oakwell. Richards has scored two and assisted one in 10 appearances, playing on the left and right of their attack. He started against City last month but was taken off after 34 minutes following Luca Connell's red card. Tom Wilson-Brown - Stockport County Wilson-Brown returned from his loan spell at Swindon Town with some expectation that he could feature for City, but he was allowed to leave for Stockport on a permanent basis in August. However, he has played just one time, in the Jersey Mike's Trophy, for them and is yet to make a single appearance in League One. Nathan Opoku - Northampton The striker moved to the Cobblers permanently towards the end of the transfer window and has become a starter for Chris Hogg. Opoku scored his first goal for the club against Crawley in September and will be looking to get more goals. A consortium led by former AC Milan, Chelsea and Brazil forward Alexandre Pato recently took over Northampton. Jordan James - Wolves James' loan move came to an end with no permanent deal after relegation to League One and the Wales international went on to join Wolves. He's yet to break into the starting XI and has come off the bench in each of the previous six games. Calls have already been made for him to start, but he'll be hoping to enjoy his football at Molineux. Free agents City fan favourite Ricardo Pereira remains without a club after leaving Leicester. Ricardo has posted a number of social media clips of himself training in City gear and appears to be keen on staying in football. In the summer, reports in Brazil claimed Gremio and Corinthians were keen, but no move is forthcoming. Also without a club is Asmir Begovic. The goalkeeper has been doing some media work since his exit, appearing on Sky Sports News. Jannik Vestergaard is also clubless, too, having departed by mutual agreement in July. Fellow defender Jamaal Lascelles too is unattached and recently opened up about being a free agent. "It is a position I have never been in before," he said. "A lot of uncertainty but I have been ticking over on my fitness, following a programme. "Hoping for the right team to come along and join, get back to playing football, so hopefully it can change soon. I need to be playing football."

  14. artin Lewis · Follow 'Ending' the State Pension triple lock: what is really likely to happen? Many are confused, and think the State Pension won't rise. Actually the change is subtle, it's about loosening, not ending, one of the three locks - the link to average earnings. So I want to try to explain as simply as I can. PS feel free to share this as there's much confusion. CURRENT TRIPLE LOCK The State Pension(s) rise each April by highest of: - 2.5% - CPI inflation - Average earnings growth [State Pension(s) as it applies to the new State Pension and older basic State Pension. Though not the old additional State Pensions (eg SERPS) and a few other additional pension which only go up with CPI. The new system will likely be similar.] PROPOSED NEW SYSTEM The State Pension(s) will rise each April by at least the higher of: - 2.5% - CPI inflation The 'at least' is because it will also rise due to average earnings, but not specifically for that year instead over a longer period. Yet the exact mechanisms aren't set out, so I'm going to use one example of a way it could work, where the rise keeps up with average earnings since the system start date of 2030, as I think its easier to understand. HOW THIS COULD WORK IN PRACTICE Here's a made up example to set it out... Current System: Year 1: Inflation 3%, earnings up 2%. Pension rises 3%. Year 2: Inflation 4%, earnings up 6%. Pension rises 6%. Year 3: Inflation 3%, earnings up 1%. Pension rises 3%. TOTAL RISE: 12.5% over the 3yrs as the increases compound. New system: Year 1: Inflation 3%, earnings up 2%. So it rises 3%. Year 2: Inflation 4%, earnings up 6%. A rise of only 4% would be a total rise since the start of 7.1%, yet that's less than the total rise in average earnings of 8.1%. So the Pension would rise about 5% that year to match the total rise in average earnings. Year 3: Inflation 3%, earnings up 1%, so it rises by 3%. TOTAL RISE: 11.4% over the three years ------------------ I hope that makes sense, again this is just a rough example to give you an idea as best as I understand it, but I think I'm in the ballpark.

  20. Two teenage boys and a teenage girl who died when the car they were in ended up in the River Wear have been named by police. A black Audi A3 with four people inside came off the road at Panns Bank near Wearmouth Bridge, in Sunderland, and went in the water just before 13:30 BST on Tuesday, Northumbria Police said. The three who died have been named as Jackson Duke, 17, Luke Etheridge and Zara Shaw, both 16. A 17-year-old boy who managed to reach safety has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, the force said. Jackson and Luke were from Sunderland, while Zara was from Houghton-le-Spring, a town about seven miles (11km) from the city. All were students at Sunderland College. What a waste

  24. From the first match ever played in the FL there’s always been richer clubs using that advantage to achieve more than the rest. There’s never been a level playing field the gap between top and bottom is obviously much bigger now making it almost impossible to breech bar LCFC’s miracle season.
