  1. It is a distraction for sure. But what are they supposed to do? Not appropriately celebrate the final match of our greatest ever player? What ‘style’ of celebration would fit this arbitrary niche where it’s good enough for the fans to recognise Vardy but simultaneously not be a distraction from relegation?
  2. By the same logic, instead of being angry at the club / Vardy for not playing vs Bournemouth, why not also be annoyed that Vardy hasn't simultaneously signed a new 1 year contract and agreed a sale to another PL club? That would make the club more money wouldn't it. Nevermind the ridiculousness of putting this £2m prize money all on the Bournemouth game, rather than every other draw/loss this season... It'd be hilarious for Daka to get a hat-trick at Bournemouth now
  3. On what basis? We've been truly awful this season, we've failed to score in 16 out of 36 games, we have the 2nd lowest xG and at the age of 38 Vardy 8 goals and 4 assists. There's 5-10 PL who would take a punt on him. Unless he wants to go to Saudi or MLS for final pay day why shouldn't he be playing at the highest level next season?
  4. Vardy is clearly prioritising bowing out to a full house of adoring fans over 1 more chance to get to 200 goals.
  5. It can be both right? The club are quite rightly making a big deal about our GOAT leaving, both around the time of the initial announcement and now for his final game. It's right by him and the fans and is easy good PR. Incidentally it distracts from the relegation and the shitshow of this season. Even if the club aren't deliberately exploiting that (or if they are) - the distraction was always going to be there. Not sure what the club could do differently.
  6. Win the league with what players though? Think Mavididi and Fatawu are the only signings in the last couple of years that have improved the first 11. Do you really trust this recruitment regime to reinvest wisely?
  7. 2 one-off games not necessarily reflective of each club's playing squad, manager situation and recruitment system for next season
  8. I guess I just mean Southampton's recruitment is likely better than ours and they have more sellable players for player trading. And they're likely getting Rohl ahead of us.
  9. Ipswich and Southampton in much better shape than us. Then there's playoff losing teams (Sunderland? Coventry) who are looking OK. Wrexham and Birmingham are smartly backed by a lot of money - I'm no accountant, but due to profit & loss based rules I imagine their spending power this summer isn't hugely less than ours. Then remember our squad is much worse than when we last went down and we don't have £90m worth of players to cash in on... Too many unknowns for us (Manager and incomings and outgoings) but I think Autos are not a safe bet, plus I don't trust the current recruitment regime at all
  10. Disgraceful decision by the club
  11. Hope not - his penalty record is weirdly patchy and most of his misses have been 'high pressure' ones.
  12. I don’t see why he’d leave us to play for another Championship side. Surely there’s 5-10 PL teams who would take him on a 1 year deal!?
  13. Those are published losses, not the final PSR calculation losses accounting for add-backs etc
  14. Surely there’s no way this is true
  15. I think you’re focusing on what he can do for us rather than what he wants. I think it’s quite a mutual departure.
  16. Allowing it to happen? what can the club do? We can’t afford his wages in the Championship, for a player who won’t contribute a huge amount. And Vardy himself (quite rightly) thinks he can play in the PL for one more year, which we obviously can’t offer
  17. So a totally useless stat then
  18. Southampton are desperate for a point, to avoid sharing Derby's record. They know we can't score. I think they'll sit in, play for a point and hope to knick goals on the counter/set pieces.
  19. On what metric? 6.24 what?
  20. Historically we’ve always been a yo-yo club We have the most relegations from the top flight, most promotions to the top flight and most 2nd division titles
  21. TBH I won't begrudge him signing for a PL team and hopefully getting to 8 more goals to pip Owen...
  22. Oh for sure. But last time we made an excellent appointment in Maresca, had a ton of deadwood leave on frees and got £90m+ from sales of Barnes, Maddison and Castagne. This time, the squad is quite a bit worse than the one that went down. Manager situation is either unknown or terrible. We have a ton of players hard to shift and only 1-2 sellable assets.
  23. Southampton (with Rohl?), Ipswich both in better shape than us. Then there's whoever loses the playoffs. Plus the Wrexham wildcard. Autos will be very difficult I feel, since we either need to appoint a good manager, or we will (god forbid) still have RVN. Nevermind the total lack of CF at the club and the big overhaul required (which itself will be conducted by our woeful recruitment system...)
  24. Do we seriously expect the club to have the ability to identify a decent player? Hardest and most expensive position to buy for, every club knows we have no strikers and we're tight AF with transfer fees...
