December's fixtures...Us/Ipswich/Leeds.
Les-TA-Jon replied to weller54's topic in Leicester City Forum
Weird that you excluded Southampton. Fellow relegated team, only 1 point behind Leeds, and boasting the division's longest unbeaten run, 11 games, including 8 wins. Here's the fixtures for all 4 teams. Also included the fixtures, with the quality of opposition (based on table position/quartile) - good opportunity for us to pull away from Ipswich and for Southampton to overtake Leeds -
Anyone else find it weird how Ricardo seemingly got booked for dissent, but that sub for them, Molumby committed a cynical foul, that was given, then stood up, ran off with the ball preventing us from taking the free kick all the while shouting at the ref, and nothing given?

Hit the post. Mavididi had 2 other good shooting opportunities. Iheanacho had a good chance. A few openings for KDH.

Enzo needs to be careful - the dangerous spiral

Depends what you really mean by this, in practice? He’s managed a complete reversal of mentality, taken over the debacle of last season, and completely inverted the way we work defensively (never mind adding actually recognisable patterns of play to us - totally absent under Rodgers for 2 years before departure). All in the context of huge player turnover and a short/bad preseason. if that’s not stamping his authority, I don’t know what is. -
Yes but the wrinkle this year is that Leeds and Southampton both on track on 86-90 points, and ourselves and Ipswich on track for 100+ but with form going the wrong way. If 2 to 4 of those teams maintain momentum it could be a record points level required for top 2 finish it’s going to be tight

In the first third of the season, us and Ipswich overperformed, whilst Leeds and Southampton underperformed. With expected points vs actual points analyses giving us about +9 points and Ipswich +10, with Leeds on +0.5, and Southampton on +5. We've since regressed to 'normal' performances, whilst Leeds and Southampton have sorted themselves out. I think the 9 game winning streak and the games prior to the Hull loss went to everyone's head. There was many on this forum saying that we probably wouldn't lose many more games and then no one in the league was capable of beating us by outplaying us. I wonder if Leeds and Southampton fans were totally losing their heads in the first part of the season or were they patiently waiting for more football to be played? It's a slog and there will be twists and turns. It's ultimately a 4 horse race for the top 2, but we're in the best position by virtue of our good start. But obviously if current form continues we'll fall behind...

Think you’re projecting ideas into my comments. I’m not, not saying we’ve been in increasingly poor form. all I was saying, was simply what was in my comments: Previous matchday: Leicester won, rest of top 6 drop points This matchday: Leicester draw, most of the rest of the top 6 win Swings and roundabouts. and yes, I know Leicester are in worse form than Leeds, Soton and Ipswich, recently
-
Well sure. I’m just saying, we built it a bit at the weekend, and with this matchday, it’s shrunk a bit. it’s not huge calamity you seemed to be presenting. it’s almost as if the season has twists and turns with each round of fixtures or something
-
Think you went back and edited, because Leicester are on 10 points out of last 6, not 7 points
-
Yes?
-
In the previous round of games, the rest of the top 6 dropped points and we were the only team to win so…*shrug*

Soccer in HD down? Anyone got a link?

Orange Cards and Sin Bins could work but honestly they should just ask refs to consistently apply the rules that already exist. Yellows for anything cynical/unsporting: - Simulating - Shirt pulls - cynical foul stopping attack - delaying quick free kick - time wasting after a warning (at any point in the match not just the final 10 minutes) - waving imaginary cards - failing to move away from the ref when instructed to do so
-
Sorry brainfart; of course I meant Liverpool, not Spurs
-
Thing is as well - the requirement of the job is to turn up, train and be available for selection. There's no evidence he never did this. Not his fault if the club shouldn't have signed him or if the managers suddenly freezes him out.

We're 14-1 in minutes 76-90+ across 17 games which is mental. Only conceded four 2nd half goals. And we're actually 12-6 in 1st halves too. 4-2 in each segment across 0-15, 16-30 and 31-45+ minutes

The problem is, football has many different stakeholders and VAR benefits most/all of them, apart from fans...
-
Not a fan of a challenge system. It shifts the onus onto Managers rather than the officials. Still results in things not being given. Creates weird situations where 'that would have gotten overturned, but they had run out of challenges' and also the way the game plays out live doesn't lend itself to challenges being made. Like look at the Diaz goal situation - even if Spurs Liverpool had a challenge to use in that situation, how would they have known to do so? Didn't they only find out it was dodgy after the game/at half time?
-
Oh right. Nice stat! Certainly true in the Championship.
-
Presume you mean 10+? And where? In English Football? We've conceded 10 in 17 games. Arsenal 10 in 13 games.
-
But then you'd need a VAR check on every single yellow card, because the 1st yellow card is just as influential to '2 yellows = 1 red' Then once you follow that logic, shouldn't all fouls be VAR checked to see if they should be yellows? It's pandora's box.
-
Probably the most misused footballing term. Will the EFL cancel our promotion if we don't beat Sheffield Wednesday?
-
Not sure where to fact check this but I imagine Hermansen and Vestergaard would be close to top compared to the rest of the league for forward, line breaking passes into midfield. But if you don't watch us, then you obviously won't know how we play...
-
Given how polemical you've been about Rodgers and the last 2 years, you'd think you might be enjoying us winning most games and being top? Might the simpler explanation be that you just need a different hobby?
