48 points to go for probably automatic promotion. 16 wins out of 29 games. Given ourselves a ton of room for maneuver. Leeds and Southampton currently on track for 87 and 84 points respectively. We're currently on 2.5 points per game, we need 1.7. We're dropping 0.5 points per game, we can afford to go up to 1.3

I mean obviously they’re not taking it well, as a fanbase. but isn’t it also true that it’s a bit of a farce that there isn’t a set/agreed procedure and punishment for these sorts of transgressions? isnt that what makes it open to interpretation on the whole ‘disproportionate punishment’ or not debate?
-
And yet they’ve just lost 3 in a row and close to being out of the title race…

9 games in the space of 33 days starting on Wednesday vs Wednesday!

No streams?

Put Stolarczyk in goal and Hermansen replaces Winks, obviously

Form comparison for context Basically the cream rises to the top, Leeds and Southampton underperformed in the first part of the season and have now settled. We overperformed a little, now settling. It's a 4 horse race for the top 2. This idea that we are somehow a cut above the rest of the league can be quashed.

But you keep using phrases like "sorting out the situation" "take any real authority" "take charge of the situation" But what would that actually involve or look like, in practice, in this example? I'm not sure what you're looking for or what Coady did/didn't do?
-
Sure but what was Coady supposed to do? He probably had no chance of preventing Fatawu from provoking Dozzell (and I'm glad he didn't because Fatawu's antics got Dozzell sent off...). And then afterwards what was Coady actually meant to do/what did he fail to do?
-
Wait what went wrong there? Fatawu played the QPR player perfectly and got him sent off. And what did Coady fail to do?
-
Thing is, Daka doesn't have the tight control or link up play necessary to play as a forward in the current system. Nacho does. Vardy has improved on it/makes up for it with reputation and clinical finishing Daka will only be at his best with a run in the team (which he'll struggle to get) and with space to run in behind, with balls over the shoulder. We don't play that way and we're not going to come up against many/any opposition teams that leave that space either. Daka doing well is a massive pipe dream

It's interesting that people keep saying Leeds are on a great run. They obviously are, and of course coming off the back of 3 wins in a row is better than 2 losses in a row, but they've basically just done very similarly to us over the last 10 games or so. 7 wins out of 9, just like us. Or W7 D1 L2 out of last 10 compared to our W8 D0 L2
-
What if we lose this but still get promoted? Will the EFL stop us going up?
-
This whole saga is just more fuel for the idea that an independent regulator is needed. It's a massive conflict of interest for everyone involved. Other clubs want Man City harshly punished because they're direct rivals. But certain clubs will not want them punished if they've got similar skeletons in their closets. Likewise, the PL themselves (what even is the PL, if not the 20 member clubs?) want to be seen to punish wrongdoing but also don't want to kill a golden goose, especially in the context of the threat of European Super League and Saudi League

In what way? It's specifically who had the best one-off season in each position in the last 10 years. It's not who is the best player in each position over the last 10 years. Which leftback has had a better one-off season than Fuchs in that timeframe?
-
Thing is, none of this was a surprise back in the summer. More and more looking like a mistake to not sign a 'starting quality' striker. Vardy - Old and always at risk of becoming or being 'past it' at any point this season Nacho - massively inconsistent Daka - totally out of favour Maybe we'd maxed out spending/wages unless Nacho or Daka went...which obviously didn't come to fruition
-
Feeling less relevant after a bad week or so of results, but here we go: Also record targets aside, 90 points has been enough for automatic promotion in every single Championship season so here's a comparison on that: Obviously, with all 4 teams on pace for around that amount or more, this season will likely require more than 90 for the autos...
-
decent and measured article from Blackwell that. Think this whole idea that we were 'simply a cut above' the rest of the league can be abandoned now. And if Maresca is smart he can use it to his advantage to ensure no complacency sets in. Bad week or so for us, but given the relegation we had, the club being in shambles and all the work we had to do in the summer, we'd have all taken 8 points clear of 3rd at this stage!

Reality is, it's going nowhere, but this is how i'd implement it * Goal line tech, for goal mouth and byline * Automated offsides * VAR checks on goals, penalties and reds - but with very high threshold for intervention - i.e only applicable to truly glaring errors EDIT: maybe the only way to ensure that lost one is some sort of timer - if VAR can find a glaring error/evidence to meet the high threshold for intervention, in, say 60 seconds, that it must be definition be debatable - in which case, retain on-field decision.

A third of the season gone - your thoughts?
Les-TA-Jon replied to Happy Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
We're 1/3 of the way through the season and about 1/2 way to the points we need for automatics (90 points). We need 1.6 points per game to get to 90. Leeds and Southampton both need 2.0 -
Yeah put simply, both teams had a plan, Leeds successfully executed theirs and we didn't execute ours! Don't think it's quite right to say they battered us, but it's also not right to claim it was a tight 0-0 game that fell Leeds' way. They simply outplayed us.
