https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12991015/the-question-are-aston-villa-the-new-title-winning-leicester-city I know it’s about creating outrage and clicks but this is just so stupid.

Presuming we go up we need to spend about £50m on a couple of top notch CBs

Update: Note I've changed it from "Reading's record" to the overall English Football points in a league season record - because that's what it is. Reading 05/06 and Lincoln 74/75 (adjusted for 3 points for a win) both hold the record for this - 106 points. That droppable points total is going up nicely haha.
-
122 points would be mental. That would mean dropping only 13 more points over the remaining 34 games. That's something crazy like W29 D2 L3 and would be what, 40 wins?
-
Just checked. Lincoln City 75/76 in the 4th division got 74 points (W32 D10 L4) which is also 106 points when adjusted to 3 points for a win. So if Leicester got 107 points it’d be the highest ever points total in English Football history
-
Reading’s 106 I think. not sure with 2 points for a win season, adjusted though

Yeah pretty sure that's what the article concluded - it's about Ricky coming inside

https://theanalyst.com/eu/2023/10/leicester-city-lightning-start-championship/ "They’ve tallied the most open-play passing sequences of at least 10 passes (222), with 55 of those ending in either a touch in the opposition box or a shot"

"0.1% better than Pep...you'll never sing that"

Not sure you can? with a ‘normal’ goalkeeper you have 10 players comfortable on the ball. with Mads you have 11. with a normal goalkeeper you have a back 4/5 with 1 player who can’t play it that well, with Mads you have one more. winks being in the team or not doesn’t change that.
-
Winks has been fantastic, but if we're specifically talking "best signing" then it has to go to Hermansen - he's so foundational to how we play. Him being so comfortable on the ball and pushing up/out, lets us play with 11 outfield players when in possession, making it easier to outnumber the opposition, beat the press and to play our intended back-to-front style. Never mind his great vertical passes into midfield or the long balls out to the wing.

"Leicester City are the first side in English football history to be relegated after having gained as much as 30 points in their opening 11 games"

Well obviously that aged poorly. It's pretty easy to make most predictions look bad with hindsight isn't it? There was a large contingent of the forum that had a negative outlook for this season, for the reasons I listed. And most of what I said was/is true and was valid. We did have to appoint a manager, have a huge turnover of players in a small period of time. The club was the same setup that just presided over a terrible relegation and 2 rubbish summer windows. It's precisely because of this context compared to how we're playing and the feeling at the club that illustrates what a fantastic job Enzo (and the recruitment team) have done. More than happy to admit that the bit in bold was pure hyperbole though

Leicester need 107 points to get the record for highest ever points total in a '46 game, 3 points for a win' season. With 30 points after 11 games, Leicester can afford to drop 28 points out of the remaining 35 games and still get 107 points!
-
Interestingly we're top and 2 points clear in either scenario

Introduce an Orange Card. It counts as a yellow for purposes of 2nd yellow = red, but would come with additional punishment of 10min sin-bin and would specifically be given for more cynical things like: Cynical foul to stop an attack Shirt pulling Simulation Waving an imaginary card at the ref

Someone tell Harry to be quiet!

Yeah the ones that are more about procedure and tech I can think of are: Diaz offside, misunderstanding about on-field decision and poor communication Wolves vs Liverpool offside, where camera angles missed player offside Lee Mason missing a player and drawing lines in wrong place (Brentford vs Arsenal I think) Hawkeye failure
