yes it is! we paid around 16-17m for Soumare on a 5 year deal, his contract is up in 2026 and is amortized at then 3-3.5m a season. two seasons left, his book value is somewhere between 6-7m, anything above that is profit on the books

for reference, getting 18m for him would be £9m book profit, compared to the suggestion of Nelson for £3m...

no, I know full well the issues with PSR but clamouring to sell high potential players for below reasonable valuation and then replace them with absolute guff is a dogshit idea. like, say we sell Nelson for £3m and bring in Rodan for £10m like you suggested. he'd have to be a minimum of a 4 year contract to see any profit on the books for this season and even then it'd only be £500k. it shouldn't be something we even consider when we'd make more profit without needing to replace anyone by selling Soumare for £7m plus

"let's sell off our best youngsters for nothing" is in fact a terrible plan
  5. people won't though will they, that's the thing with this appointment. they've put in a yes man who won't kick up the sort of fuss that Rodgers and Enzo have over the mismanagement at board level, and a bloke coming in incredibly unpopular. Cooper is set up to be an easy fall guy so these bastards get away with it again
  6. right, but we still could have had them all but officially in place before the period change with potters staff. if it's to do with wages, contract starts 1st of July so goes into a different period. if it's compensation, then again line things up to go through officially on 1st of July, like we'll almost certainly be doing with Fatawu and any other signings we've got set up. I don't see any way of reading it being about potters backroom staff without the take home being that we wanted the cheapest option available
  7. given there'd be contract negotiations for his backroom staff, and the next financial period starts in 10 days, im not buying that. surely Potter wasn't insistent on having the coaches fully set up by 30th June?
  8. so we just straight up cheaped out then. Bodes well for the summer given the squad building needed... Moyes is done. Maybe he goes back into management if Clarke gets the boot from Scotland after this euros, but club management no chance.

and sub £3m for Ben Nelson is gonna offer about as much satisfaction to PSR as Rudkin going out for a walk in the city centre and picking up every coin he sees. If you're not getting over 10m at a minimum for an academy prospect, then in our situation it's not worth selling.

Yes, lets sell a player with high prospects for the sort of fee you see at the bottom of the championship these days, and sign some championship duffer for 3x as much. Solid plan.
  11. I wouldn't say there's no sign, just a misunderstanding of how civilization ending disaster comes around. it's death by a thousand cuts - same as about a decade ago when there was a massive push to ban neonicotinoid pesticides due to the threat to colony collapse in bees, which in itself wouldn't have been an obvious civilization ending disaster but would have seen a huge drop in flora biodiversity and subsequently drops in crop yields. we're seeing that risk now, the oceans are starting to change colour because phytoplankton are migrating because of the temperature change. the long run impact of that is the collapse of food chains in the oceans and a marked reduction in fish with the knock-on effect on our food supplies, and there will be hundreds of similar small effects in isolation that combine to create a planet unable to sustain current levels of human life
  12. have a look in the Spanish dugout and you might see why
  13. 1st competitive, played v andorra in the warm up games
  14. of course they did, their entire squad was shit, that's besides the point. the style of play they had was absolutely rancid and gave absolutely nothing to the attacking players in it
  15. gonna be gutting watching this lad get nothing like all of Forests 712 wingers under cooper
  16. pretty safe bet that the bloke who came through the ranks at PSV has a brighter future than a bloke who's last team ditched him after 18 months of being absolutely turgid and relying on pure luck to stay in this division.
  17. because RVN has a much higher ceiling on account of playing football that didn't go obsolete at the same time as tamagochis
  18. green going hopefully indicates we've got a few cbs lined up because otherwise it is just Thibaud and Howard iirc
  19. someone doesn't remember Claude Puel, the only enjoyment about that was that it pissed off the twat in the hat himself, George Galloway, for some inexplicable reason
  20. dreadful appointment of a bloke who has a total of 6 good months in his entire career, and even that would have ended with nothing if not for Jon Moss's utter incompetence. but, the last two managers have both called out the shit show behind the scenes while this gimp had nothing to say on Forests mentalist owner. an appointment of a yes man for Rudkin, get Wrexham in your satnavs for 25/26.
  21. I mean the simple fact is we've just given Vestergaard a new three year contract to play in a depressionball, 10 men in your own box and hoof it at a quick lad approach. waste of a contract that now, there has to be a long range plan and clear continuity, regardless of whether you like the plan or not, anything else is a waste of money
  22. potter would at least indicate joined up thinking and a long range plan at the club, with a stylistic ethos that managers and players are slotted into. Cooper indicates that there's absolutely no plan, just bumbling idiots throwing darts at a wall to make decisions. absolutely rancid appointment and when it fails Rudkin needs to be tarred, feathered and run out of town.
  23. fair enough but at no point has he ever implemented it, it's always been about as appealing as hammering nails into your eyeballs. maybe he's given mitigating circumstances as to why he couldn't in past jobs but it just seems like we've been ridiculously naïve, on his past performances the CV should have printed straight into the shredder if we've got a long term plan to play the way we did under enzo
  24. if Potter is stalling, go and look at literally any other manager than Steve ****ing Cooper. like if Cooper gets appointed it shows that the club have no plan whatsoever and are just winging it. like, Potter at least is a clear line from Enzo and would imply a stylistic ideal from the club that players will be signed for and managers slotted into. appointing some sort of footballing terrorist who has failed at this level just means you don't have a Scooby
  25. I mean more what they've not accounted for is the current line (see John Harris' weekend column in the guardian) that Starmer is actually just lying to the public to get elected and will be far more progressive and ambitious in government. not beyond the realms of possibility, the man does have form for lying to get elected (how fast did those 10 pledges get dumped?) but still naïve - when someone tells you who they are, believe them.
