  1. Thought he’d leave one out, but quite glad Southgate has gone for both Wharton & Mainoo.
  2. As I stated the other day, in terms of style of managers, we’ve been very similar to Brighton since 2017. Sarri is a pipe dream, just can’t see it happening. But it all depends which route we want to go down. The likes of Rydstrom, Cuesta & Heitinga would all be massive unknown gambles, but they come with similar philosophies that we’ve been used to since 2017. If Top wants to continue down that route, then one of those three make perfect sense. With the situation we find ourselves in though, is it the right time to continue with the same route, possibly not 😕 Cooper would be a proper middle of the road appointment. Personally I think he gets harshly criticised, he’s success with youth seems to get overlooked by many, when it could prove to be a huge positive if he is appointed. The kind of manager I wouldn’t be ecstatic for, but I’d be content with, especially if we back him by getting some British talent through the door 👍🏻
  3. They showed some bollocks appointing Maresca, still time to show some bollocks again by appointing either Rydstrom, Cuesta or Heitinga if they want to stick with a similar philosophy.
  4. If he is to be appointed, then I hope from his side and our recruitment side, that he taps into his strengths and is willing to come in with the main focus point of developing young talent. He’s shown in every job he’s been at, that he can get the best out of young talent. I hope him and the club would be willing to go down that road and stick to his roots, if not, then he isn’t the right manager for us.
  5. You say that as if it’s some kind of certainty, which of course it isn’t. Just look at some of the players he had at Swansea and Forest in the Championship. He got a tune out of Rhian Brewster, Djed Spence and James Garner who played their best football under him. If he does come in, I’d want to see him backed in a certain manner. Numerous squad changes are going to be inevitable, I’d want to see a cluster of British talent come through the door, similar to how he operated at Swansea. If he comes in and our recruitment is wishy-washy, then I think he’s destined to fail.
  6. But he played a part in their development, which is a straight up fact. You’ll be absolutely loving the bloke, when he turns Sammy Braybrooke into an England International
  7. Cooper would be a could be worse, could be better, type of appointment. But I find it very disappointing how some fans completely disregard his success of developing youth. Look at the calibre of players he’s played a part in developing over the years. Sterling, Alexander-Arnold, Guehi, Foden, Hudson-Odoi, Sancho, Smith Rowe, Angel Gomes, Gibbs-White, Gallagher, Harwood-Bellis, Madueke, Rogers, Trafford, Palmer, Rodon, Spence, Garner, Johnson. If it is to be Cooper, then I hope we back him by getting a cluster of British talent through the door, so we can potentially have something to look forward to for the present and future of Leicester City.
  8. Ain’t that the lead singer from Rascal Flatts.
  9. At this current moment Cooper pretty much looks the heavy favourite. As I said the other day, I think he gets harshly criticised by many, he has enough credentials to make him a viable appointment. If he is to be appointed, I hope we back him in a certain manner that offers excitement. I’d want to see an influx of British talent come through the door, kind of similar to what he had at Swansea and in his first season at Forest. He has shown throughout his career, that he’s extremely successful at helping develop youth. If we can get in players like Jordan James for example, then I think Cooper could go well.
  10. Remember around this time last year https://metro.co.uk/2023/06/14/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-on-leicester-citys-shortlist-as-they-hunt-for-new-manager-18948321/
  11. With the situation we find ourselves in, it’s easy to see why some are sceptical on whether possession football should be our long-term vision. But as I said, we’ve had three permanent managers in a row who’ve played that way. Deviating away from this possession vision would be quite surprising imo, especially as an “Enzo” type way is the route they seem set on. Just look at the pattern of Brighton for example, we’ve been very much a carbon copy of their identity since 2017. Does the board want to create more potential upheaval, by completely going down a different route that the players aren’t used to. You also have to take into account the behind the scenes work, recruitment especially, and what type targets they’ve identified for this summer. We need a smooth transition as possible, another manager who’s main aim is possession, but also has the ability to be more flexible than Maresca, is the recipe for the perfect candidate imo. Has been rumoured to be on Brighton’s radar. And as I touched on above, if the long-term vision is a possession based system, then someone like Rydstrom would be ideal 👍🏻
  12. They’ve been high on possession based football for three managers in a row. If that’s the idea of the long-term vision mentioned in the statement today, then someone with similar traits to Enzo is highly likely. The likes of Cooper & Moyes don’t really fit the bill. Corberan isn’t possession heavy, but he has certain traits the board will probably like. Van Nistelrooy will probably be high on the list too. If it’s not one of those two, then they’ll probably go the easy route for Oscar Garcia, or someone completely left field like Cuesta, Rydstrom or Heitinga.
  13. Looking forward to Harry Souttar knee sliding in front of Maresca as he scores the winner against Chelsea at the KP.
  14. Was reported a few days ago that Metz have activated the option to re sign him. Seemingly will sell him on for profit again, Lyon & Monaco supposedly interested for around £20 million.
  15. This is also a guy who made James Garner look good, work like that deserves a knighthood tbf.
  16. Far better history than some other possibilities. The way he got Forest promoted, plus keeping them up with about 30 squad changes shouldn’t be knocked imo. Also his history of helping develop youth seems to get pushed aside by many. The pool of managers like Cooper, Corberan and a few others with Championship credentials might be our most realistic options. Cooper wouldn’t be my first or even second choice, but knocking certain aspects of his history is just silly.
  17. Bit harsh Cooper literally has a Championship promotion and two Championship play-off campaigns on his CV. While also having a great history for developing youth.
  18. Hmm. If we can’t get Corberan, then I wouldn’t be surprised if we sound out Carrick. Can see Henrik Rydstrom of Malmö being a possibility too.
  19. Rudkin when Sarri offers him a spliff
  20. Can just imagine Sarri smoking a cigarette right in Rudkin’s face during the interview.
  21. Another Querfeld update.
  22. Can picture myself in that Cuban Shirt while smoking a Cuban Cigar on a Cuban Beach.
  23. Would rather take a complete gamble on novices like Cuesta or Heitinga than this.
  24. Cooper’s history of helping develop youth speaks for itself. Worked in the Liverpool youth system. Excellent record with the England U17’s. Two play-off campaigns with Swansea, which included helping the development of numerous young talent. Then of course promotion with Forest, which included helping the likes of Djed Spence and James Garner actually look good. He could potentially do wonders for the development of the likes of Braybrooke and Alves. There’s far worse candidates out there that we could get.
  25. 10.33 successful defensive actions per90 67.82% of defensive duels won(8th best of central midfielders in the Jupiler last season) Those are the only two positives I’ve got for him. As others have already touched on, the rest of his stats are bang average.
