Just yet more evidence of our vulnerability from playing out from the back, and how Russell Martin can’t set up a defence. Another interesting trend is how numerous teams have been getting joy from pressing and high turnovers. Plymouth, Bradford, Cambridge, Stockport and Huddersfield all rank in the top 6 for pressed sequences, they happen to be the top five sides in the division atm. Leicester City when it comes to that stat - 22nd. In terms of high turnovers, the top three in that statistic - Plymouth, Bradford, Stockport. Leicester City rank 23rd in that statistic. And finally, with numerous posters mentioning about our lack of pace, we rank joint bottom for fast breaks with Burton Albion. Very similar statistics when we were in the Premier League under Steve Cooper, we know how that went.

Quite surprised his comments haven’t garnered more attention tbh, his comments are seriously concerning imo. When we appointed Steve Cooper and the recruitment that followed, you had a feeling it would set us back years, but I don’t think we quite envisioned being in League 1. But here we are again, with no lessons learnt, just a fancy new Sporting Director from City Group, who you just knew would come with ideas that no Leicester City fans want. We have had yet another transfer window that could set us back years, either languishing as a mid table League 1 team or worse, League 2. The group of players that have been signed on the back of their history with Russell Martin, plus the likes of Chaplin and Burns, it’s just lazy unimaginative recruitment that could yet again hinder us for years to come. When Martin gets sacked, we’ll yet again have a bunch of players on unnecessary contracts that we’ll probably struggle to get rid of. McCarron, Rudkin and Glover have blood on their hands.

The appointment in the summer should’ve been a fairly simple one, a broken fanbase needed galvanising again, Challinor and Fuchs were the most perfect options to make that happen. If Challinor wanted a break, then fair enough, but as he’s still available, then he should be top priority. But I said it in this thread the other week, if Russell gets sacked and they continue to be obsessed with a possession brand, then they’ll 100% try and tempt Liam Manning back into management.

Bit sick of repeating myself, but might as well do it again. The most nonsensical appointment in Leicester City history, you don’t appoint Russell Martin off the back of back-to-back relegations. The appointment just epitomised the failings that this board has produced since 21/22.
