Vardy is a bit of an elephant in the room here I think because he's been a part of this decline too - a decline where the squad has had very questionable mentality. Not blaming him as such but I agree that he isn't really a leader.

I like these threads. They often aren't unpopular opinions but it does always seem to deliver some quite niche shouts and topics. Mine is that Kante was good.

I keep banging on about this but it's zero standards from the top. Everyone's got a free reign to take the piss. Faes sums it up to me - supposedly in tears of happiness when he joined the club yet has somehow simultaneously managed to both be crap for two and a half years yet legitimise the idea he's above us. There's zero respect for this club from virtually anyone at it. The owner, the directors, and in turn, the players, managers, fans etc... just a total depressing mess.

1,300 disappointing. That's just going to look crap rather than statement like.

The double whammy of being a stupid club who overpays is that we have no grasp of the market and just assume everyone else is as dumb as us.

Perez was bought very much on a whim as well. Remember at the time thinking it was an overpayment and I can about tolerate it if he isn't our right winger signing. Sure enough. Just a really poor few decisions again.
-
It took him I think 18 months to score a goal that actually added any points if it wasn't taken away. I'm not even buying this out of position argument too. He was crap.

2022/23 was mental really. I don't think you'll ever see a club get this much wrong in one season. Like I think if you had ranked every single day of that year from the most to least suitable to sack Rodgers, we might have sacked him on quite literally the worst possible day. It was a generational level fumble.

It can only be the curse of Wycombe Wanderers. From the day we lost to them in the FA Cup, Essandoh gate, we ended up going through a seriously bleak period. We dropped out of the top flight in 2004 and wouldn't make it again for a long time. August 2013, we draw Wycombe in the League Cup. We reverse the game by beating them 1-2 with a last minute winner, ironically. We go on to have what's got to be our best ever era. July 2021, we play Wycombe in pre-season, lose the game and the rest since.... And there's a very real chance we play them in the league next season.

Missing out on the top 4 was not what's finished us. It is simply mismanagement and we'd have found our way here anyway. But not making the Champions League did speed up the process. I really don't agree with people who seem to think if we'd made it just the one time we'd still be good. We ultimately would still have exactly the same people in charge.

Right this has reminded me of one of mine - Weale wasn't 'that' bad, he just happened to make two huge clangers that happened to be away at Forest and away at Derby. Might be an age thing blurring my memory on him and obviously Schmeichel was a monumental upgrade but I don't remember him being that terrible. Certainly nothing like Ward level bad. * Possibility I was kind to him because he came on a free transfer from Bristol City.

To be honest this probably would've been unpopular a few years ago, maybe less so now, but I think King Power without the appointment of Nigel Pearson would've been largely a disaster.

It really is astounding that you can win our first FA Cup and come out of it probably a net negative. One of those that you'll never really get unless you followed it closely.

Generally agree with your point but I think our crowds could really dip. Premier League Saturday 3pm games going to general sale - I don't think that's happened at any other point beforehand. I do think the mix of the appalling prices and frankly appalling fare are taking their toll. Despite the forced hand I haven't missed home games in the slightest. I'm still able to do most of the matchday in fairness, just don't have to suffer the dog shit at the ground. I'm obviously exaggerating a little bit - but there's genuine truth in this and that shouldn't be the case. -
I don't think this is entirely fair even if I kind of get your point. I've seen us be bad for probably as many years as I've seen us be good (depends what you define as both) and to me what I cannot tolerate is how we forced ourselves back into this mess when it simply didn't have to happen. What's doubly galling is that we've made strides that really only the most astounding ineptitude could've meant this was allowed to play out. We haven't just become a Crystal Palace or whoever - we've fallen absolutely miles behind that sort of club, which for me is the proof that we have completely mismanaged ourselves. What I will probably concede is that I do now appreciate the whole "clubs natural level" thing. It's entirely self-fulfilling, but I think our fans have very much an attitude of that we've had our fun and we're in endless debt regardless because of what we did achieve. Whereas if this happened at another club I don't think that attitude would be so prevailing. We could be different but as a collective we haven't been.

My hand has been forced by the ban for being in the vicinity of somebody else setting off a smoke bomb. So I can't unfortunately. -
Is relegation a price worth paying for avoiding a PSR breach?
Dan replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Refuse to vote. Refuse to allow them to reduce us to that. -
Yep. Totally broken isn't it. But sums up the level of contempt the club has for its fans and the city. At least we get to watch them embarrass themselves, I guess.
-
We're comfortably bigger than Blackburn & Stoke. But I do see us becoming a West Brom / Norwich type - which is absolutely astounding from where things were.
-
Should never play for LCFC again. Will do though as the club has no standards.
-
All I'm bothered about now. We could lose every remaining game this season 6-0, it's a success if we get these scumbags out.
-
Completely agree. I think this Vichai worship needs to stop a little although I know I'm in a minority and it won't. You can never fully divorce father and son. Should be Pearson had a dream if anything.
-
It's a terrible league and to be honest even with these crooks in charge I still think we'd have to really fumble it to finish outside of the top six - but you never know. Think Ipswich will likely walk it. Southampton will probably get 2nd. Think Birmingham will be pushing towards the upper end as well. Whoever misses out of Burnley/Sunderland too invariably. The away games have more variety - I'll give it that.

I think the Villa cup loss did something to me with Rodgers and I kinda knew that we'd built a flaky, albeit talented side. But the way we folded to a team we had so much more ability than told me we'd started cutting corners in our recruitment, particularly with players mentality. Proven by thrashing them twice in far less pressurising league games. Roma I said on the night was the end of an era. I knew it to a degree but my god I didn't think it could get this bad. The loss at home to Southampton in August 2022 was where I started to think we were actually bad enough to get relegated but still believed that simply changing the manager could avert this. Which I stand by. I think what's panned out under Aiyawatt is proof we were always going to get here though. The 2022/23 wasn't the exception - it was the new normal. Absolutely rank incompetence became tolerated and the likes of Maresca knew he needed to get out of such a poisonous environment. If Van Nistelrooy has anything about him he'll already be manufacturing his exit. I'm not looking forward to seeing where it ends up. I think when we get a draw at somewhere like Blackburn or Preston and people aren't particularly unhappy it'll have sunk in.
-
I'd say it's pretty obvious that Rudkin has some dirt on Aiyawatt now. I'd imagine it's linked to something corrupt back in his homeland.
