Ipswich (A) 1 - 1 - Boxing Day - Post-Match Thread

I'll take getting promoted with 5 games left rather than 6 than having that plague on the sport. -
FFS. So Stoke isn't confirmed 3pm yet then.
-
I've got a feeling we'll draw with it.
-
It is and it isn't. I don't wish to be demeaning to it but it feels like a Carabao Cup game most weeks. We are a Premier League level team already. Credit to Maresca and the team for how easy they've made it look but all we've done for me is just prove the idea that it was the worst ever relegation undoubtedly correct.
-
How anyone can not be bothered about winning the league is beyond me. Smacks of the same kind of loser mentality that people were consoling themselves with in 2020 saying that we'd have taken 5th in the summer when we had clearly fumbled it. I could understand say Ipswich taking that mentality but not us. We're the biggest and best team in this division. We should be winning it.

Bang on. Think Maresca's impact has papered over pretty much all the cracks. Time will tell as ever.

Rotherham (H) 3-0 - 23 Dec - Post-Match Thread

A total mismatch and frankly comical we're in the same league. -
They're good, but we are better.

The day people look to the continent (which thankfully the Champions League / Europa League forces people to anyway) you realise how ridiculous it actually is in this country.
-
Our record on it is awful. 2 wins in 13 years. In our 9 years in the Premier League we won 1, drew 1 and lost 7. It's this and remembrance fixture, we are poor on both and this year, sods law, we've ended up playing the teams in 2nd and 3rd on them. We have admittedly had pretty hard games on boxing day though. We didn't get a nice hand.
-
Reminds me a bit of World Cup 2014 when Algeria had Mahrez operating as basically a second right back to accommodate the likes of Brahimi and Feghouli, unaware they were wasting their best of the lot due to his current standing which was understandable. He'll be their first name on the teamsheet at this rate though for the next one.
-
Both of the examples given were at levels below what we had bought them for. Daka's done it against very comparable opposition to ours. Daka has been fine. I'm a bit baffled at some of the stick he's had for last night.
-
It is true, we've not really taken apart most of the worst sides in the league, although we have played pretty much all of them away rather than at home. I think this'll be a pretty big win for us. These are hopeless away from home.
-
No way they're in the top half of teams we've played for me, think their efficiency in front of goal has clouded views here, they had one shot all second half for example. Agree on Stoke though. Them and Preston were an absolute joke away to us.
-
I said this a few months ago and stand by it, I think he may have more use for us upon promotion than in this league.
-
The worst no but one of. The worst might actually be Southampton which is quite something. They're a different beast now.
-
I think they were quite lucky to score twice yesterday. One shot all second half deflected in. Really sums up the randomness of football at times that Birmingham and Millwall, two of the worst sides I think we've played were the ones to score twice past us.
-
In fairness to him he got brought in to move away from this. It's a clearly dumb move though.
-
They were one of the easiest sides to play against this season. 2-3 really did flatter them. They were rubbish.
-
Next year is the one. They'll luck it this year but they are toast next year. Knowing their luck though Ipswich will lose McKenna in the summer and some dross like Norwich will somehow win the playoffs.
-
Forest might genuinely manage the unthinkable and become even less watchable.
-
He got something like a goal a game over two years in Austria - a league comparable in level to this one. He's better than this level.
-
You can get 19/1 on a Rotherham win. That's the biggest I've ever seen against us I think. Even Newport were shorter 4-0 to us.
-
Been so many different fanbases who've since informed us he'd never have gotten away with it at their ground. Preston a particular favourite.
-
Can't tell if we've played kind opposition or whether he's let the shackles off somewhat. Been a different beast going forward lately. 10 goals in our last 3 and we could've quite easily had more. Feared in November we were still a bit drab despite our efficiency but I've actually really enjoyed us the last three games. I think we can take Rotherham to bits.
