This is Ayew last season… Palace used him as mainly as winger that season and season before he was predominantly RW He is still crap though. Palace must laughing they doubled their money on him

If he’s second striker he’ll also have a #9. I think he needs one. He really looks like he drifts to create space for others and has a good decisive passing range Buonnanote isn’t a 10. He’s an 8 I agree -he’s not a 9, which is why we need Fodis as well and then have 2 of the 3 you listed also be runners. I do worry about Zaha a little. He and Stephy want to play in same space Stephy liked being main man. Also Zaha isn’t a presser so what does that do to us defensively? I really like the look of this guy. Has pace, drive and can carry the ball as well as finish. I think he fits what Cooper is trying to do… get us a bit more direct and inject speed across the front

Undoubtedly a really good player - hopefully the price is right. I do worry he’s never really done it in England apart from at Palace and having him up top is yet another move away from last season’s successful tactics of pressing quickly to recover the ball fast and creating chances (although we’ve not seen any of that preseason anyway!).

Sensible move (finally ). Good player, gives us more what we need and doesn’t lock us into long term commitment to keep paying for him beyond this season (like Okoli where we are putting a big bet on on him improving and having resale value, or else we are locked into paying YoY for him via amortisation, which the cap gets smaller on if we go back down). I know some here would prefer to buy if goes well (like Fatawu) but if doesn’t (Souttar) we are stuck. goal for this season is to stay up and short termism (with small outlay immediately) to achieve that outweighs buying for long term in my opinion
