Eh. Again, you’re making emotional anrguments that have nothing to do with what I’m saying and reading things I’ve not said. I’ve not said I don’t rate Izzet and in fact said people are more the welcome to prefer him. I put him in competition in terms of the midfield place in 4-4-2 as a response to someone else’s post. All I’ve said is that id put Maddison over him and that the arguments that Maddison or Tielemans don’t belong in that team because they underperformed in a relegation season don’t hold water (and I still don’t think Maddison or Barnes really did underperform that much last season tbh, although Tielemans absolutely did) because they’re true of other players who are there too including Izzet in 01/02, that’s it. That’s absolutely nothing against Izzet at all.
-
But all that is true of Izzet too, that’s the point. The point is that people have forgot how Izzet was awful and looked like he couldn’t be bothered in 01/02 either and his performances were also rightly criticised as being way under par at the time. Same with the likes of Elliott, Weller, Worthington and Walsh too who all played major parts in relegations in seasons they wildly underperformed over the years. With time people forget these things, but it’s still raw in the case of those 3 players mentioned. Eh. This always ends up in these illogical but emotional arguments when you question people’s favourite players from decades ago so I’ll step away but nostalgia fades the bad seasons these players have so newer players are treated to harsher standards. If you prefer Izzet fair enough, you’re entitled to that, but these arguments about how those 3 underperformed in a relegation season so they don’t stand alongside other players don’t hold water for why other players are better when they are also true of the likes of Izzet and several other of the older players named.
-
Maddison’s output in our relegated team was better last season than Izzet’s was in either of his 2 relegated seasons though. If you’re going for a pure numbers argument then Maddison beats Izzet hands down. Not going to start a long debate but people are still raw on the relegation from likes of Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes right now that they aren’t yet ready to admit that they were better than most players in their position that came before them.
-
Even though fans turned on them last season, Maddison and Tielemans were both better than Izzet.
-
I want him to get 200 club goals more than 150 PL goals. He’s currently on 188.
-
Get the horrible feeling he’s just gonna go with zero victory lap. Just like King, Wes and Kasper. We really need to arrange something for his final game
-
Everything is politics though. And “keep your politics out of xyz” posts like that are very forthright and stark political statements in themselves favouring the status quo.
-
Needed that
-
It wasn’t. He got like 9 goals in 41 league games while standing around doing nothing. People just remember his hat trick vs Forest second string in the cup, exactly the same as people who have for the past 2 years argued Daka is goood because he scored 4 vs a bottom half Russian side in Europe. Beckford was crap. Far worse player than Yakubu or even Daka.
-
Yakubu agree was a good player. but Beckford didn’t stick the ball in the net though he was useless.
-
Not a massive Corbyn fan, he was clearly still the far better alternative to Boris and a hard Brexit though.
-
Post-2016 Tories are cruelness personified. How did we ever let a government like this run our country?
-
Didn’t they try it in New Zealand then scrapped it after about a year? Number of younger people smoking is already massive down from a generation ago, I think prevention measures have already been successful.
-
Remember the post London 2012 Olympics high? Sadly was just a short lived thing Since 2016 and the Brexit referendum, the world has just been spiralling ever more horrendously out of control (not claiming cause and effect more that the Brexit referendum was the first really strong sign of how politics is destabilising)
-
Crazy overrated by some of our fans. Get some on here saying he’s as good as Kasper ffs
-
Really hope @fuchsntf is still ok. Seems to have stopped posting and given he posted about his terminal cancer on here, I’m starting to fear the worst.

Should There Be Play-offs in the Football League?
Sampson replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
Of course. I remember how much our attendances would drop once we had nothing to pay for in April May time in the Championship, without the playoffs that would’ve happened in December. Think about all those League One and Two teams who have to manage their finances game to game. It’s so much better now than it used to be without the playoffs -
Feel like people are voting Ricardo due to his absence from the team if anything. Too early to vote. As others have said everyone had their ups and downs but ultimately I think KDH has won us the most points over the season so probably him.

Wow. Of course nothing anyone can say can bring comfort, but reading a post like that from FoxesDeb brings it all home how all the other stuff outside of spending time with friends and family is just noise that gets in the way of what is really important. Really heartbreaking to read and I guess a timely reminder of that we never know when the last time we’ll see our loved ones will be so make the most of our time with them while we can. Just hope you and your family can eventually find ways to cope with it all FoxesDeb.

We weren’t playing particularly well even when we were winning let’s be honest. Early in the season we were all talking about how we’d been grinding out results and getting lucky while not playing well. We had a good purple patch before Xmas but our luck ran out now I think, but it’s really just a reversion to the mean of the luck we used up early in the season.

Gets so much of a free pass while better players gets slaughtered. Can’t create, isn’t a ball winner, just makes simple passes all game and people make out he’s some genius because of it.

It’s like watching a Covid lockdown game, just feels so flat and empty from both sides
-
Don’t disagree but Harry tried to escape from it and got hounded even more by the press though tbf. I’m not sure it’s a role he can really just leave.
-
He doesn’t do it on his own though, that’s the problem. He’s good at recycling the play but he’s not a creator nor a destroyer. Same with players like Wellens or Mendy, even Tielemans to an extent. You can appreciate them and what they add to your backbone when it’s going well but you also realise what you’re missing from players like that when they don’t go well.

Pretty much agree with everything. Wasn’t his biggest fan last season but he’s carried us for large parts of this season then gets way underpraised for it on free but criticised at the first sign of poor performances. Meanwhile Winks gets way more praised despite being nowhere near as big a match winner and any of his poor performances get completely ignored and overlooked: it’s bizarre:
