Rincewind Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 I think he means Gary Barlow. That would explain it.
StanSP Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 Anyone watch Trews News? Strangely addicted, he makes good points even if you think you might disagree with him I watch it and enjoy it every now and again. Usually if I'm bored .
MooseBreath Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 Afraid that's a way of life nowadays. Sometimes it takes someone to speak out so people do stop and think and not look the other way/ I do not agree with a lot of what he says but I am open minded enough to think about it. Given that you've thought about it, might you share some of the specific issues you have with capitalism?
Rincewind Posted 4 April 2015 Posted 4 April 2015 I watch it and enjoy it every now and again. Usually if I'm bored . I keep meaning to watch it more. Sometimes it can be unintentionally funny.
Bettsj2 Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 The political stuff is dogshit. His audioboom podcast is fookin hilarious.
BoneDog Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Complete tool - a low budget Alex Jones or David Icke. All three of them are c*&ts.
BoneDog Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Given that you've thought about it, might you share some of the specific issues you have with capitalism? It's more like communism, not capitalism. If we lived in a capitalist world then all the shitheads who mess up would not be bailed out with our taxes and continually propped up, they would naturally be replaced by a competitor who can do their job correctly. We've got a small group of people - bankers, IMF, Fed reserve etc. - who are slowly destroying the middle classes. Right now they're dreaming up more ways to take away pensions and property and also trying to make sure most people work way past retirement age. It's a commie scheme where most of the worlds wealth will be going into a small groups coffers while the masses slave away day after day until they drop. We might be told it's capitalism but it's definitely communism.
Rincewind Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Can't remember mentioning capitalism in my post. What I said was I do not agree with everything Brand says but I am open minded enough to stop and think about what he says. Something similar to what others posted but wasn't questioned on in the same way that I was.
Webbo Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 he raises the question, can we do better then dog eat dog capitalism, surely there is a better way? thought provoking The answer is no, next question?
lavrentis Posted 5 April 2015 Author Posted 5 April 2015 The answer is no, next question? be open minded webbomonster
MooseBreath Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 I'm not fazed. I hang around big stars all day. I don't see what the big deal is anyway, you're just plain old Rincewind to me.
Rincewind Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Maybe its the way I've been brought up and whats happened to me. I know what it is like to be an underdog, picked on, thought useless and to struggle so I do not judge or look down on those in a worse position to me. I'm no better or they no less human. I try to get on with everyone. We all are all results of an evolutionary process which commenced with blobs crawling out of the sea.
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Don't really know much about the blokes personal life so might be unfair to say this but.... Isn't it a little ironic going on about capitalism when you have his kinda money? Plus I hate his stupid hair and voice
lavrentis Posted 6 April 2015 Author Posted 6 April 2015 Don't really know much about the blokes personal life so might be unfair to say this but.... Isn't it a little ironic going on about capitalism when you have his kinda money? hes said numerous times hes willing to give it up for a change in system
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 hes said numerous times hes willing to give it up for a change in system Why doesn't he give it up now? Don't buy it i'm afraid even though I haven't looked into it
lavrentis Posted 6 April 2015 Author Posted 6 April 2015 Why doesn't he give it up now? Don't buy it i'm afraid even though I haven't looked into it counter productive to his cause
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 counter productive to his cause Why? He doesn't want capitalism right? Burn all of his money on a tv show.... spread the word and put your money where your mouth is
Leeds Fox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Why? He doesn't want capitalism right? Burn all of his money on a tv show.... spread the word and put your money where your mouth is I think that might just be illegal. Charity would be a better way, surely?
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I think that might just be illegal. Charity would be a better way, surely? Well I was going to say that but surely someone against the system would want money destroyed not given away
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 In the UK it is not illegal to burn money but, ironically, defacing it is subject to a penalty under the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1928.9 Sep 2006
Leeds Fox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Well I was going to say that but surely someone against the system would want money destroyed not given away If the money is leaving 'the system', it wouldn't make a difference would it? Giving it to a charity like unicef, would be as good as burning it, in the sense of the money being in the system.
Benguin Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 If the money is leaving 'the system', it wouldn't make a difference would it? Im saying surely that's what Russel should do instead of making money out of trying to suggest why a revolution would be good
Leeds Fox Posted 7 April 2015 Posted 7 April 2015 Im not saying I would burn it. Im saying surely that's what Russel should do instead of making money out of trying to suggest why a revolution would be good I'm not saying you did say that. It's still a stupid idea for anyone to do that, nevermind doing it on TV. I wasn't trying to cause an argument, I agree with the nature of your point, just not the execution of the idea. I don't even like Russell Brand anyway, I'll have his money if it's going spare!
