Babylon Posted 23 January 2006 Posted 23 January 2006 Has anyone got the album and is it any good ie worth buying??? Ask Linford Christie.... I believe he has a copy.
CosbehFox Posted 24 January 2006 Posted 24 January 2006 Has anyone got the album and is it any good ie worth buying??? Yes and its worth a buy. But if you have listened to the demos, be disappointed, its been highly produced and over edited.

I haven't listened to the demos, but i think i will get it because ive heard from some other people that said it was good.
The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2006 Posted 24 January 2006 I'm jumping on this 'Arctic Monkeys are good bandwagon'. Not great, but good.
Katy Posted 25 January 2006 Posted 25 January 2006 Basically its being plugged that if you liked 'I bet that you look good on the dancefloor' then you will like the album. Ive heard most of it and its pretty good, Mardy Bum being my personal fav. The cover of Girls Alouds' 'Love machine' on Jo 'I love everyone' Whileys show was the mutts as well!
C-man Posted 27 January 2006 Posted 27 January 2006 Theres something weird about 'Mardy Bum'........ I thought Mardy was just a leicester word
Foxes 2 da grave Posted 27 January 2006 Posted 27 January 2006 great album and mardy bum is a classic
Leicfox Posted 27 January 2006 Posted 27 January 2006 Theres something weird about 'Mardy Bum'........ I thought Mardy was just a leicester word Well it aint.

Yeh definitely the best, but I can't stop thinking he's doing a George Formby Impression That's Formby not Foreman!
Katy Posted 2 February 2006 Posted 2 February 2006 Yeh definitely the best, but I can't stop thinking he's doing a George Formby Impression That's Formby not Foreman! Yes the accent is very regionalised but I think that it adds to their charm
Head Honcho Posted 2 February 2006 Posted 2 February 2006 Yes the accent is very regionalised but I think that it adds to their charm Oh definitely, it also helps him as a wordsmith being able to use slang the way he does, just listened to A Certain Romance and the lyrics are amazing but they wouldn't be the same if written in the Queens English.

Very true - The Arctics officially rock
Barry Proudfoot Posted 2 February 2006 Posted 2 February 2006 Very true - The Arctics officially rock i don't know if i am on my own with this, but i'm actually not liking them very much at the moment, i'm just not. perhaps i should keep listening and a may be converted

Katy Posted 3 February 2006 Posted 3 February 2006 i don't know if i am on my own with this, but i'm actually not liking them very much at the moment, i'm just not. perhaps i should keep listening and a may be converted Id agree they are an aquired taste but ill be honest and say that I hated 'I bet you look good on the dancefloor' when I first heard it but then I kept singing it without thinking and thought if I cant beat them, join them!

I wasn't keen at all. The album is now on repeat as I really lke it!!!! Still over hyped though, it's a good album, but not miles ahead of other albums released in the last year as some think IMO
The People's Hero Posted 3 February 2006 Posted 3 February 2006 Good album - almost great but not quite. Doesn't actually feel as fresh and new as I might have expected.
Babylon Posted 3 February 2006 Posted 3 February 2006 Doesn't actually feel as fresh and new as I might have expected. Exactly what I think... people compare it to Definately Maybe but that defined a generation because it was fresh and a little different IMO. The monkeys are just another guitar band similar to quite a few at the mo, still good though.
Teeno Posted 7 February 2006 Posted 7 February 2006 brought the album today, even though I've onbly ever heard the one song . Well it's not bad but not as good as the hype.
