Akinbiyi24 Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Has it surprised anyone how he hasn't furthered his career in football by being a coach. He has done bits and bobs but nothing in the professional game. He is obviously fairly wealthy but he had all the ingredients to be a top coach.
Kitchandro Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 There's definitely a glass ceiling when it comes to Turkish managers in football.
davieG Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Perhaps he's very happy investing his time in helping young kids get into the game.

And Matt Elliott I think?
Xen Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 He runs a youth academy with Steve Walsh. And Matt Elliott I think? Yep. Not sure about Elliot, but Izzet and Walsh definitely do it. My brother was offered a scholarship there recently, seems like a decent set up, and the players get BTEC qualifications as well as the football coaching.
WillyP Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Yeah they both do at my Mum's school. Both really nice guys that love helping out the kids.
marko Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 On a related note, he finished writing his book yesterday so I don't imagine it'll be long before it's published. Should be a decent read.
Akinbiyi24 Posted 18 April 2015 Author Posted 18 April 2015 Why not get into the professional game though and coach under 18s for example.
st albans fox Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Why not get into the professional game though and coach under 18s for example. Perhaps he invested his earnings sensibly and doesn't need nor want the aggro?
Guest Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 I think he could still come in and provide class in our midfield.
davieG Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Why not get into the professional game though and coach under 18s for example. Perhaps he likes being his own boss and coaching players his way rather than at the beck and call of the varying philosophies of managers that are here today gone tomorrow.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Why not get into the professional game though and coach under 18s for example. Could be that he felt a role at that level doesn't provide enough job security, or that he doesn't want to be involved in the politics of football.

I doubt he actually coaches the players. He might own the academy but he probably rarely coaches. And the players in this academy will more than likely not make it in the game. All im saying is he could have made a name for himself in the professional game as a coach but decided not too. A shame in my opinion
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Why not get into the professional game though and coach under 18s for example. He coaches one of the Leicester academy sides. Under 15s or Under16s I think.
Treacle Fox Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 He always said in interview he didn't want to coach or manage in the professional game. He seems to be a humble laid back guy who doesn't want the hassle. He doesn't need the money and probably gets far more satisfaction from coaching kids over the stress involved in the football league.
