Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 I'd say more money than sense, but more money than brain cells would be appropriate.
Rincewind Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 Thought they cost a few hundred quid. Never realised the price had been reduced.
stripeyfox Posted 17 June 2015 Posted 17 June 2015 I got a Sony smartwatch 3 a couple of months back and I really like it. It’s not the best looking watch I’ve ever seen but that doesn’t bother me. The LG and Moto android watches certainly look smarter but for me the Sony was a bit cheaper, has better battery life and can connect to wi-fi (one of the others can’t). The watch basically pairs by Bluetooth and wifi with my phone and mimics any notifications from the phone on the watch. The biggest advantage for me is that it stops me from constantly checking my phone every five minutes which I found was distracting me. Now, particularly at work, I can easily see incoming messages and dismiss those which aren’t important. It is a lot more discreet than fishing around for your phone all the time. This in turn has lead to my phone battery lasting much longer. I also have an app called Backcountry Navigator which I use when walking in the Lakes in which you can download offline OS maps which are used in conjunction with the phone/tablet’s GPS to pinpoint your exact location on the map. This also displays a minimap on the watch. It worked pretty well when I tested it although I think a dedicated Garmin style GPS device is probably better as the app kicks the shit out of your battery. Both phone and watch were down to about 15% after 6 hours walking!
