Frank to be Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Is it a law, or a cultural sensitivity? Don't know, but the arrest would suggest it's law. Either way I don't think it really makes any difference. You should be aware of cultural sensitivities as well as laws when you're visiting a foreign country. To be clear, I think the part linking it to an earthquake is ridiculous, and hope their punishments aren't increased as a result of that.
Finnegan Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I dunno if I was one of those spirits I'd be pretty chuffed with my day. Hawkins, yes, the Dutch lads? Chuck em on the pyre.

If they haven't broken a law they shouldn't be charged. And of course it's because of the earthquake. Far easier for the authorities to blame some foreign hikers than actually put together some kind of response.
Finnegan Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Is it a law, or a cultural sensitivity? It would be illegal in this country,it's indecent exposure. See naked rambler.
bovril Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 It would be illegal in this country,it's indecent exposure. See naked rambler. meh, amazing some people are still so offended by nakedness.
ramboacdc Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 When will people learn. In a muslim country so lets get naked and post the pics on the net. Sorry go to prison you daft fvckers you deserve it. its not a muslim county.
Guest MattP Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 meh, amazing some people are still so offended by nakedness. I'm not so sure people are offended by nakedness, I doubt anyone really starts crying when they look in the mirror before they go to bed. I don't want to walk down the shops though in the morning and have to look at a cock and balls swinging past me on the way.
Frank to be Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 meh, amazing some people are still so offended by nakedness. Fine but it's a foreign country where people have the right to be offended by whatever they want, you don't have the right to impose your view of right and wrong on others, and this was clearly wrong in the eyes of the Malaysian people. It's not crime of the century, of course, but they don't deserve any sympathy.
Frank to be Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 its not a muslim county. Islam is the state religion

ADK Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Maybe the spirits were angry at the local tribe for not allowing attractive women to strip naked on the mountain?
Guest Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 meh, amazing some people are still so offended by nakedness. You obviously only see young Swedish girls.
bovril Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 You obviously only see young Swedish girls. Takes me back to an evening playing twister in Riga....
Bettsj2 Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Would love it if they got a jail term. Anything to stop students being 'crazy' is fine with me.
Vlad the Fox Posted 11 June 2015 Author Posted 11 June 2015 I nearly accidentally took the family onto a nudist beach in Spain last year. The Mrs would never have believed it was an accident, the kids would have found it hilarious mind.

Went to the Costa Natura Nudist Resort (Costa Del Sol) one time; felt nervous walking past it with the naked elderly.
Kitchandro Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Anyone who thinks nakedness causes earthquakes deserves to be disrespected. Normally I'd be all for the 'you asked for it, you knew what you were doing, you can't complain' mantra but if they're going to be so ridiculous about it, fvck em.
Guest MattP Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Anyone who thinks nakedness causes earthquakes deserves to be disrespected. It does make me laugh how we give so much respect to these groups/tribes etc whose beliefs are so warped they should be laughed out of any sensible situation, they'll even have some sway in the courtroom as well according to Sky. Reminds me of that South Park episode where everyone is dying but they keep taking Native American medicines instead of the Doctors because they want to show how tolerant they are to the local tribe.
bovril Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Anything to stop students being 'crazy' is fine with me. I reckon this is why posters who are usually 'live and let live' about cultural differences are so 'string em up' this time around. A lot of reverse snobbery on this thread. They're students, she's a head girl on her gap-yah, so fvck 'em.

It's just a dumb product of the social media generation. It's not the nudity that bothers me and it's not the nudity that got them in trouble. It's the "everyone look at how funny and random we are" bollocks. Benign, retarded shit. I don't want to see them hung, drawn and quartered but if the ordeal shakes them up a bit and makes future morons think twice then great.

I can't say I've seen many if any people going "oh how terrible, those natives are completely sane and justified." Pretty sure even the people who aren't supporting the kids thinks it's batshit hilarious.

Finnegan Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I can assure you I rant this much in real life as well. I'm definitely my father's son.
