bovril Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I can assure you I rant this much in real life as well. I'm definitely my father's son. Is your Dad Richard Burton?
Guest MattP Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I can't say I've seen many if any people going "oh how terrible, those natives are completely sane and justified." Pretty sure even the people who aren't supporting the kids thinks it's batshit hilarious. You want to go to Australia mate, people are queuing up to tell you how magnificent and superior the aboriginal culture is to ours and how we ruined it. Fcuk the Opera House or Sydney Bridge, the pinnacle of human achievement is inventing a stick that comes back and a tube that makes a noise if you blow it, it's all about leaning on a spear for 30,000 years only taking a break to worship a big rock. Fcuk knows how it long it would have taken them to get to the moon.
Mike Oxlong Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 The blokes should be slung in prison. Absolutely disgusting wanging your tackle around like that. The women should be given their own website.
Finnegan Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 For the record, do you think the fact the Western Europeans were so advanced gave them a right to decimate countless cultures around the world they could have instead educated? I'd love to know what your politics would be if, by the accident of birth, you happened to be born Sami or Maori or something. (For balance, I should state that Caucasian Europeans weren't the only ones. Ancient Persians and early modern Japanese were some of the most violently aggressive colonists and conquerors the world has ever seen.)
ADK Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I think Churchill was about right when he said cultural imperialism was natural.
Finnegan Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I'm not sure about natural but certainly deeply ingrained in a hell of a lot of the world's cultures.
leicsmac Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I think Churchill was about right when he said cultural imperialism was natural. This. Or as Finn says, a lot of the human race seem pretty hellbent on applying it. At a higher level, as a species we also seem pretty intent on shaping the world to suit our needs and our needs alone at the expense of other lifeforms in the same way. Again, that's probably a product of the evolutionary process, something that is hardwired into our brains and pretty difficult to overcome. Mind you, another key part of that process is extinction.

No I don't, but I'm certainly not feeling guilt ridden over it. The Abbo's are a totally different breed mind, even with the benefit of Western education now they are still a total mess, still wandering around Alice Springs in 2013 needing to be got off the lept off the booze by the authorities as a massive number of them can't stop shagging their own kids, got any goon mate? Fcuk Off. Seriously, Fcuk Off. Contrast that with the Sami/Moari's who on the whole appear to have embraced it. Actually fcuk it, the abbo's yeah, they did deserve it. Appalling people.
Guest MattP Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 I'm not sure about natural but certainly deeply ingrained in a hell of a lot of the world's cultures. Of course it's natural, all living things seek to dominate and expand given the chance, it's only then nature in return that stops them. We managed to break that barrier though with advanced intelligence of any other creature.

We managed to break that barrier though with advanced intelligence of any other creature. I'm not entirely sure that we've broken that barrier wholesale yet, given that for all our intelligence (and we do have the most advanced intelligence) most humans seem to follow the evolutionary model practically as much as any other animal would (as you have said there).
Guest Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Anyone who thinks nakedness causes earthquakes deserves to be disrespected. Normally I'd be all for the 'you asked for it, you knew what you were doing, you can't complain' mantra but if they're going to be so ridiculous about it, fvck em. But the same could be said about Christianity, Islam, LCFC etc... Fact is people need to just start showing other people a little RESPECT.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Just realised... I got naked on a hillside in Kent a few weeks back. Coincidence?
Guest Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Just realised... I got naked on a hillside in Kent a few weeks back. Coincidence? That's why the weather was so bad - you angered the spirits. Prepare to be flogged.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 That's why the weather was so bad - you angered the spirits. Prepare to be flogged. You can tell you don't live in the UK. On a side note, I wonder if they'd have carried on stripping if they were in St Peter's Square with a Swiss Guard advising them not to.
Benji Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 Three days and about £850? Whether you agree with the "law" / bad feeling or not, I'd be breathing a sigh of relief if that were me.
Frank to be Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 It was never likely to be a harsh sentence. It's Malaysia not Saudi Arabia. I'd have probably let them sit in jail for another week and maybe made daddy write a slightly larger cheque if it were me, but this seems reasonable.

What with all the media attention and the sentencing discretion. I'm sure there would have been discussions along the lines of "plead guilty and you'll get XYZ" - but I'd still be nervous the judge would just turn round and come out with something much more life changing.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 If she wasn't cute this would never have made the news.
Frank to be Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 I was thinking that daddy probably has friends in the media
Finnegan Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 If she wasn't cute this would never have made the news. But she really is.
ADK Posted 12 June 2015 Posted 12 June 2015 She's an aeronautical engineer too. Bet she could keep me up for a while.
