ronnup Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Verbatim a quote from the Charles A thread. Isn't it madness that we feel we've gone through the ringer these days and usuly there's no transfer at the end of it. Was it better when there was just teletext, the Mercury and none of the Twitter, ITK, Internet bollocks? Who knows what the transfer sagas were like in the 90s? Muzzy might have begged to go elsewhere etc. thoughts?
The_77 Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Absolutely inhumane. It's a miracle any of us, let alone all of us, has been able to survive!!!
ozleicester Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 MEDIA RELEASE YONGAH HILL LOCKED DOWN AFTER AFGHAN ASYLUM SEEKER DIES OVERNIGHT Yongah Hill detention centre is in lockdown, and Serco’s riot squadhas been mobilised following the death of a 27 year-old Afghan asylum seeker at around 9pm Friday night. While the cause of death is still unclear, the man’s body was takenfrom the detention centre by Western Australian police in the earlyhours of Saturday morning. The death has highlighted the neglect and lack of medical care in the detention centre. The man had asked for medical help for the last two days, but typically had only been given panadol. There is not even a nurse on duty after 5pm weekdays. Other detainees have complained that Serco guards took too long to call an ambulance; “They watched and let him die,” one asylum seeker told the Refugee Action Coalition. It is believed that the man had slashed himself earlier on Friday and should have been on suicide watch, which would mean regular observations by Serco guards. A disturbance broke out following the death when one of the Sercoguards was heard to say, “one less for us to look after’. “This is another death in detention that lies at the feet of theImmigration Minister and the neglect that characterises the detention regime. The man should never have been in detention. There is no excuse for keeping someone in detention for three years. If he had been in the community, he would more likely still be alive,” said Ian Rintoul, spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition.
potter3 Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Did you mean to post that in 'What floats my boat'?
foxoffderby Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Sir Tim Berners - Lee should have his knighthood removed for even thinking about inventing such a tool.

The easiest way of avoiding the internet bollox is to put down your phone/tablet/etc in the middle of the night and go to bed, or during the day find a bit of ironing to do. Alternatively make a sammich or summit
ARM1968 Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 What crap? All the self generated bull shine? 99% of the crap is generated by our own impatience.

Just interested me. What's your point?
Kitchandro Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Nah, things are better now. Imagine going the whole boring summer with not only no football to watch, but nothing to talk about. Most of it is a load of bullshit but at least it spices things up a bit. If people didn't enjoy discussing it they wouldn't be on here.
Fox92 Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Stuff in the papers is just as bad as some of the stuff on the internet. Don't know why people read stuff like the Sun and the Daily Mail. Pretty sure someone in their office just says a club is linked with a player, then it goes onto messageboards like this etc.
sphericalfox Posted 1 August 2015 Posted 1 August 2015 Im asking whether people actually prefer being better informed or whether it was better when we just found out one day that someone had signed without any lead up. Just interested me. What's your point? I don't believe we're any better informed in all honesty, there's just a mountain of bollux to wade through, should you personally choose to. My point is that you could easily ignore all of it and listen to specifically one or two souces of reliable info rather than all of it at once and become frustrated or wound up. Some people enjoy being driven up the wall and that's what drives FT traffic, and if I were Mark, I'd be happy everyone is so impatient and we've gone beyond a Maynard frenzy to something even more mental.
