Bettsj2 Posted 3 August 2015 Author Posted 3 August 2015 So if Okazaki, Kante and Yohan flop, what are you gonna say? Same as everyone else I imagine.
Bettsj2 Posted 3 August 2015 Author Posted 3 August 2015 Because we're spending money? . Because we're spending money on prime rib players and not getting knocked back by McGoldrick, Deeney and Maloney. We've come a long way in a year.
EnglishOxide Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Same as everyone else I imagine. Exactly. This is why you should concentrate on what players are going to bring to the team over how much they cost. Cost means absolutely jack shit. Would you have been happy signing Andy Carroll because he was £35 mill?
Matt Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 You've forgot Fuchs on the list aswell, also signed by Pearson, or maybe not if you believe Jimmeh. Oh My bad, I see what you're on about, money spent, not just signings, ok. Either way it's a signing and I don't quite see the obsession with money spent, we all know it doesn't guarentee success.
filbertway Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Exactly. This is why you should concentrate on what players are going to bring to the team over how much they cost. Cost means absolutely jack shit. Would you have been happy signing Andy Carroll because he was £35 mill? My guess is that his point is that we're aiming for a higher calibre of player now, they generally come at a higher cost
Fox92 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Because we're spending money on prime rib players and not getting knocked back by McGoldrick, Deeney and Maloney. We've come a long way in a year. Well I've never seen these players play. Just because we're spending doesn't mean they are any good. Staying in the division each season should attract the better players anyway.

Cost means absolutely jack shit. Would you have been happy signing Andy Carroll because he was £35 mill? Cost means jack shit in a fairytale land. In the position we're in now, If you want quality, you pay a premium and if you're paying a premium, you bet your ass they'll be bringing something the team. Would I have been happy signing Carroll for £35m? No. Would I have been happy buying Shearer for £15m?, Cole for £7m?, Ronaldo for £70m? Bale for £100m? Etc etc etc. Yeah paying big bucks may not work out, but in football if you want to eat at the top table, you have to order the biggest steak and risk it not being cooked to your liking rather than just having a side salad.
katieakita Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 We moaned when our scouting network unearthed players who we had never heard of for around 500.000 up to 2,000,000 we are still moaning when were paying 3 or 4 times that for a higher class of player we haven't heard of.
EnglishOxide Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 In the position we're in now, If you want quality, you pay a premium and if you're paying a premium, you bet your ass they'll be bringing something the team. Tell that to Hull City fans. There is a lot of shit in the transfer market, and its very hard to get good value for money. Whilst I have faith in our scouting system, I am unsure that Okazaki and Yohan are going to be worth the £13 mill we have spent on them.
Grewks Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Delighted....Big money signings have always worked for us.
PAULCFC Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 first things first, The Ashes...Hamilton wins F1 again, then our foxes rummage through the higher class bins, bloodhounds are led a merry chase, and a mix of thais and Italalian create a mellow tasty wine of a team, poured out at around top 12..... If spillage and corkage become too repeative then our connoiseurs on the terracess, will have their critic and ideas parrat.. Have a rep point for that last paragraph!
