goose2010 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Meant palace woops about 8 and a half mill too much, my Sunderland supporting mate actually tweeted the club and offered to drive him down to sign the contract.
jimmeh Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 We must have spent close to £50 million on players since getting promoted
NeilLCFC Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 No because his club record at a high level is superb. You must just mean the clubs he's been given the chance to manage rather then on field success he has delivered.
sdb Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I still don't think N'golo is Cambiasso's replacement. Two different types of players. We needed a strong ball midfielder and Cambasso wasn't that. Inler or the other bloke will be Cambiasso's replacement I think! Agreed. I'm still a bit worried about how confident we'll be on the ball. Cambiasso was head and shoulders our best player on the ball last season. I don't think i'd want to know what percentage of our attacks he started with ridiculous passes that no one else would've even seen, let alone pulled off.
NewquayFox Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Add to the list the emergence of Chillwell and it's looking pretty good for the season, can't wait until Saturday sat in the KP watching the game..... Up the City.......
foxfanazer Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I just mean that Ranieri feels more Premier League than Pearson thats all. Combined with the signings it feels more positive to me. Well I think this will be the post to quote if we get relegated. Absolute nonsense
MPH Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I just mean that Ranieri feels more Premier League than Pearson thats all. Combined with the signings it feels more positive to me. Beginning to hope we now have the best of both worlds.... Great scouting network set up by Pearson and implemented by Walsh, and the Tactical knowhow of a wily old Italian...

weller54 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Anyone else really happy we're throwing it around? Okazaki £8m Huth £3m Kante £5.6m Benneh £5.6m With Ranieri in charge we're starting to look so much more like a Premier league club. Really looking forward to the season now. Looks like it.. Better than playing GTF in midfield away to Chelsea like last season!!.. Thin on the ground comes to mind.. But thin and GTF shouldn't be used in the same sentence.... Just need another CM player in now.. Think it'll be Inler!

You have a strange obsession with spending money. You ought to have learnt from a previous manager of ours that spending big does not necessarily result in success. Is a player capable or does he look like he has potential? Does a player have the right attitude and will he fit into the squad? Does he bring something different that we don't currently have? These are the questions we should be asking rather than just ejaculating over the fee because spending gives people a sense of being elite and cool.
foxfanazer Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 No I meant his win percentage. Forgive me for feeling positive about the season. No problem with being positive. I hope you're right because if CR is 'more premier league' than NP (whatever that means )we should be finishing comfortably better than 14th

In my 30 years of supporting the club, i'd say the majority were spent walking home from Filbo after a game listening to people say, 'spend some fvcking money'. There had only been one period in the time of my support where excessive spending has resulted in catastrophe and that was under Taylor. That was a different time and our structure was completely different. We didnt have the backing we have now and we'd just committed to the building of the stadium. What happened then shouldn't make us quiver everytime we spend a bit. We should enjoy and embrace the financial power we have now and be excited when the fees we pay for the players we are signing are reflective of the stature we hold. Leicester City are a club on the up. Its took long enough to get here and it looks like the intent is to keep ascending. Its fvcking great.
Finn Claw II Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Newcastle and Sunderland will spend as much as us if not more. Villa had a huge windfall from Benteke and are spending it All the teams who finished around us have tried to significantly improve their squads. It's a lot of money but even more money is the prize of survival. It's already looking like the three promoted teams to go down for me.
Gerard Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Huth £3mKante £5.6m Really happy about both these signings ----------- Benneh £5.6m Okazaki £8m Underwhelmed about these two but we'll see.

There's that love of spending for the sake of spending coming through again. Mark_w had it absolutely right, what we need is good players - sometimes these will come with big price tags, sometimes they won't. Crucially it's the 'good' bit we need to focus on when looking at individual players., not the 'how much' bit.
fuchsntf Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Before Cambiasso was here, we didnt compare, so I suggest now he has gone also dont compare. Teams change, evolve, perform and improve in different ways. The Tactics will be different.Ranieri will look and hope that this team is his team and success now will rightly be considered his. He I am sure will ride the positives from Pearson, from last season, but like the owners he will try his hardest, to show that squidge of improvements.. +1. In Claudios style and way. Since the end of the season we have invested in several new players, so lets not try and compare. 1st sit back and enjoy, give Claudio and his new reign, and all players time, patience, and an even Chance. Let see what the the 1st 5 games performances/results show us, before we start dissing anything/anybody, or even dreaming the positive, also lets not go over the top. first things first, The Ashes...Hamilton wins F1 again, then our foxes rummage through the higher class bins, bloodhounds are led a merry chase, and a mix of thais and Italalian create a mellow tasty wine of a team, poured out at around top 12..... If spillage and corkage become too repeative then our connoiseurs on the terracess, will have their critic and ideas parrat..

The thing is we now play at a level where to improve on what we had last season we will have to pay for it, and the added scrutiny and meddling agents means that we can't do our business under the radar like we did with Mahrez.

I do accept that bringing in quality will often require us to pay out a bit more. But it's the quality that's important here, not the amount spent.

Generally qualities that increase a player's value ..... Therefor we have to spend big to get the better players ..... I just don't get why people have a problem with us spending money to become a bigger better club. Have some ambition and enjoy it!!!!

I'm not against spending money, I can understand why you might think I am from my posts but I'm not. What I am against is the assumption that, because we spend big, we'll do well (and vice versa). I agree with you, quality often does come with a price. But as I've said, it's quality we ought to focus on rather than price as Bettsj2 seems to want to do.

Its almost like some fans cant acknowledge the fact that to buy a good player, you have to pay a premium. The hidden gem aint gonna happen whilst we're in the Prem.

We've spent on good players so I feel we'll be more successful than we were. I like to see us not shirk away from a decent size fee as we have in the past. Too many people associate big spending with disaster. It doesn't have to be!
sphericalfox Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 All I know is Kante's value is automatically likely to have gone up just being in a stronger league. I suspect after one season under his belt, and I'm sticking my neck out here, his value will have doubled. Not sure of the other's value exponentially increasing, but I'd like to hope in a team that delivers itself out of relegation fodder, they'd maintain their values. Therefore the spend this transfer window might be more than we are used to, it's simply that. No needs to worry.
