Bettsj2 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Anyone else really happy we're throwing it around? Okazaki £8m Huth £3m Kante £5.6m Benneh £5.6m With Ranieri in charge we're starting to look so much more like a Premier league club. Really looking forward to the season now.
Dr The Singh Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Of we get inler and aurangutan, then I would agree
Kitchandro Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 It's a necessity at times. I'm happy for us to search around a for a bargain but it's a lot more difficult as a Premier League club. Replacing Cambiasso was always likely to require some serious dough and more to come I expect.
Mark_w Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Anyone else really happy we're throwing it around? No. I'll be happy when the players we've signed play well.

Wasn't £11m of that spent under Pearson?
Kitchandro Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Wasn't £11m of that spent under Pearson? Technically Okazaki was signed after he was sacked.
Mark_w Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Technically Okazaki was signed after he was sacked. No he wasn't.
Finnaldo Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I don't care about throwing the money around, I care about getting the right players in. If that requires a wad of cash then so be it- but paying over the odds can have a negative domino effect in terms of the rest of the business both this window and January. Saying that I'm happy what we've spent so far, if the Inler talk is true and we can get him for under €10 million, then I'd call it a decent window, well at least as much as I can until the season starts and we can see what they can do.
Captain... Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I wouldn't say we are throwing it around, spending around £20m is peanuts compared to the £70m we pocketed last season in prize money alone, and stand to earn again this season even if we finish bottom. Last season Hull spent £45m after their first season in the prem, (look where it got them), I'm happier that we are looking to build a balanced squad rather than spunking a huge amount on one player, like Hull did with Hernandez.

Because he spent £200,000 more than Pearson?
LCFC FOX Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I still don't think N'golo is Cambiasso's replacement. Two different types of players. We needed a strong ball midfielder and Cambasso wasn't that. Inler or the other bloke will be Cambiasso's replacement I think!
Will1981 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 yes you need to keep spending to stay competitive in this league, plus I am confident with our scouting system. PS King Power turned over $1.9 Billion last year that is over $5 million a day and we have much bigger backing that just King Power so I am confident our owners can easily pay for each of the players we have signed by trading profits for just a day or two.
Bettsj2 Posted 3 August 2015 Author Posted 3 August 2015 Because he spent £200,000 more than Pearson? I just mean that Ranieri feels more Premier League than Pearson thats all. Combined with the signings it feels more positive to me.

I'll be happy if we win games, I don't really care what we spend so long as we're not being stupid and risking the club.
Stadt Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 I just mean that Ranieri feels more Premier League than Pearson thats all. Combined with the signings it feels more positive to me. Because he's foreign and a big name?
Bettsj2 Posted 3 August 2015 Author Posted 3 August 2015 Because he's foreign and a big name? No because his club record at a high level is superb.
CosbehFox Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 It would have happened regardless of what manager.
martyn Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Assuming Benalouane has actually signed, we've had a good summer of recruitment..Added quality but not completely changed the face of the team. Manage to snaffle Inler and/or Aranguiz (or a central misdfielder of a similar calibre) that can change to very good.
AyewJoking Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 Whats the point of being in the premier league if you cant make big money signings? It looks like we still arent "big" enough to spend over 10 million on a single player but fees of 8 million will hopefully be considered modest amounts for us in years to come.
mikey54 Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 How much have Sunderland just spent on Wickham? Not a lot
Jimothy Posted 3 August 2015 Posted 3 August 2015 How much have Sunderland just spent on Wickham? Absolutely nothing.

If we stay up, next season's new TV revenues will make that investment look like small beer.
