Do you think there might be better qualified people than you guys to judge?

Do clubs never make a bad buy?

Do they not have "qualified people" judging?

Every Italian sports journalist I've read and the English Serie A journalist said we overpaid and he's no better than what we have.

Atalanta fans are beaming because they've sold one of their okay players for huge money. I haven't read one report or comment from people who have seen him play regularly that we have got ourselves a player.

I'll judge him myself soon enough but the fact we paid €8m for a plater that cost €1m a year a go and was the 330th best player in Serie A last season which would make him the worst player in the 30th best team.

You can keep your head in the sand and think our scouting team doesn't make mistakes but every bit of evidence I've seen so far suggests we have. I'd like to know who bought him and on what premise as his stats were terrible last year but his price went up 800%.

Whereas I will reserve judgement until he's had at least ten games under his belt before writing him off.

You'll note that every foreign journo is decrying the amount of money English teams have. Every bit of business we've discussed is being described as absurd by some local media outlet. But £5.6m isn't loads these days and there's every chance he'll be a great fit.

I'm just so fed up of the negativity on here. What happened to being 'supporters'? Why be a detractor?

I am a supporter and will cheer him on if he plays on Saturday.

This is a forum to air your opinion and I'm airing mine.

I can't see the logic in this buy.

He cost €1m a year a go and despite being rated the 330th best player in Serie A last year his value has gone up eight fold.

It just doesn't make sense that you can buy a player and for him to fail and still sell him for a huge profit.

His stats were not terrible, they compared to most of our defenders at the very least. But nothing certainly stood out as being particularly excellent.

The articles I've read have said he has certainly attracted interest from some of the best clubs in Italy, Roma and inter in Jan and Juventus a few years before that. The coaches over there have obviously seen something, just as Ranieri has (I'd say it's 100% his pick going off the few things that have been said).

As for overpaying, we will see. The proof is in the pudding, unfortunately because of the Pearson sacking, the two weeks we got Ranieri and the three weeks he took to look over the team we were playing catch up. With that in mind it will be difficult to judge, perhaps we did it so that we had someone for the start of the season!

I certainly think whoever is doing our negotiating isn't the best, the prices for Ulloa, Kramaric, Okazaki, Benalouane all stink of being several million over what they are worth.

We used to get decent value, so it's a funny one. Perhaps it's indicative of the issues we've faced in the premier league to get people in.

Fingers crossed with more time at this level our negotiations improve along with our appeal to players.

Having said that...£5m for him or £8m for Chester? You could easily look at his stats and say they weren't great or that he was a failure also seeing as what happened to Hull.
