Merging Cultures Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 It certainly was a ballsy thread to start with so few posts!
Harry - LCFC Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I think in the general troll-foolery this comment got lost. But... why exactly? And how the hell do you know if a player is 'culturally similar'? Some weird as fvck shit on foxestalk these weeks.... It actually isn't weird at all. In fact I'd say it's a pretty universal trend that people tend to find it easier to identify with those who come from a similar/same background.

Call me cynical but the only thing I really want from Leicester players is to entertain me and win more games than they lose. Going on your criteria (hard-worker, cares about the club, cultural background) even I could play for Leicester. But I reckon I'd be pretty shit. I come from a very different background as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, but honestly couldn't care less.
TOMBlcfc Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 You can't say 'this is not racist' then go on to say how a team of black people is 'odd' [emoji23] Someone please ban this clown

The OP introduced the notion of identifying with your own team (albeit in an odd and rather unappealing manner) so I carried on in that vein. I wasn't suggesting that the attributes I listed were the only things I want from the squad, just that they were some of the things that make it easier for me to identify with the players.
Merging Cultures Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 I don't identify with any of the players. They are multi millionaires who play a game to earn their living. I can see how some people could identify with players, especially players from a working class background. Those that have had shared struggles etc. I can understand that skin colour could be an impediment for some people relating to others. That's usually due to ignorance and a closed mind. That's usually not the fault of the person though, it is often a product of their environment. Usually due to their parents or close family. As was said before, not many people have close relationships with people of different races. That's a shame, being open to others enriches our lives. It isn't easy though. But yeah, OP is racist, but I imagine he is quite young, and he has heard how all these 'foreigners' are taking are jobs and they are swarming our borders.
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 August 2015 Posted 14 August 2015 Couldn't care less about the colour of their skin. I would however be ****ed off if they were all foreign and at the expense of having no English players in the "English game". I like the honesty of the lower leagues, which seems to have been lost the higher up you go. Plus, how else are we supposed to develop our national side.
