What a great position we are to sign players

Just imagine if we had started off with 3 poor results - iam sure would not have got the last few signings in Kante and Inler etc . I am sure having our new manager has helped get in some of the players signed this summer , which I am not sure would have happened under Pearson .( although he had signed some bef ore he was sacked ).

Things arel looking great , hope we can keep this up

Kante signed before the season started didn't he?

We're second in the Premiership with a team containing eight of the players who won promotion from the Championship.

Our success has been built on player retention, not player purchase.

I think it's setup so any potential serious target we have bid for and have been allowed to discuss terms with etc, gets a call from the manager.

Some of our newly signed players have already made a contribution and I'd imagine their arrival or potential arrival did a great deal to keep established players focused and motivated - especially with some having their starting places so seriously threatened.

But you've got a point. Holding on to the core of the team which built our success was important given the departure of Pearson and the four-year contract signed by Mahrez was a bold statement that said we don't need or intend to sell anyone other than on our own terms .

Even Nugent didn't want to leave - it just became his only sensible option. I just hope we can retain our spirit with the massive building work going on within the squad but I don't see why it should founder unduly. Even those not in the matchday team will likely be better rewarded than if they were somewhere else.

Cannot believe we have Gokhan Inler. That is bigger than Cambiasso imo.

I thought you could see his quality when he came on as well even though he didn't do anything spectacular.

He made a pass to the left wing which just oozed class.

Hell be better than Cambiasso IMO.

Nah. Cambiasso has got some of the World's greatest clubs on his CV: River Plate, Independiente, Real, Inter, Leicester.

Inler is 3 years younger than Cambiasso was when he signed for us, so he has that in his favour, but Napoli and Udinese doesn't really put him in the same league as Cambi.

He does look like a really good signing though... And despite my previous comment about player retention I do think the OP is right. Us being top of the League must surely have been the final factor in convincing him to join us.

Convinced the owners made the right decision regarding Pearson and Ranieri now, really starting to love him. Hope he can continue this sort of form and really take us to the next level.

Think it was Berner who said on the Forum/Boot Room the other week that Inler was in that second category below world class. Cambiasso was undoubtedly in the top one having played for Inter and Real Madrid in his prime. The thing with Inler is that we've got him at an age where we might still see him at just about his peak, with Esteban he was top drawer and did things that were sublime but his all-round game was undoubtedly a couple of notches below what it once was.

Definately the right decision to move the club forward regardless of right/wrongs. We now have a well rounded, experienced manager and it's paying off.

The Mahrez contract extension was an outstanding bit of business. It's important too that players who have already signed for us are going to be happy with their decisions right now.

He did look good but one of his first cross field passes didn't reach it's target and led to a Spurs attack and attempt on goal.
