Foxy harry Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 The summer before our 2014/15 season the owners came out and said that they are targeting top 5 in the next 3 years. I, along with others, laughed at the prospect of this and thought they had gone a little too far. Never could anyone have imagined that we are on track get it in 2 years and i know there is a long way to go yet and that top 5 is not our target but it is within the realms of possibility that the owners dreams may actually be coming true.
weller54 Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Crazy times indeed! The Chelsea game is a marker to how far we've come.. Win this and a top 4 finish is a real possibility!
jaqo88 Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 When I showed my friends this they couldn't stop laughing, and they thought our owners didn't have a clue. Making it come true would be unbelievable, it shows how having high (almost unrealistic at the time?) ambitions is not a bad thing!
Livid Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 I can't remember if it was the BBC or Sky who interviewed a few lads in the Town Hall Square after the bus tour and they were giving it " Champions League here we come....." I was STFU you're embarrassing yourselves. I really hope they're right!!
Xen Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 I remember being completely shot down on here for saying that our owner's European ambitions in such a short time frame weren't *that* unrealistic. If you asked me if I still thought that this time last year I would've laughed in your face, mind...
Mayofox Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 It must have been May, because that's the date on my betting slip. I believed what they were saying, putting €100 at 40/1 that by May 2016 we'd finish in the top 5. Obviously there were times last season when that slip was nearly screwed up and binned; now I'm just holding my breath....
fuchsntf Posted 13 December 2015 Posted 13 December 2015 Crazy times indeed! The Chelsea game is a marker to how far we've come.. Win this and a top 4 finish is a real possibility! I understand what you feel and mean, but putting it down to the one game in this period, sets for me no marker.Form and potential comes for me, in 5-6 game periods. So far we since Newcastle have in 3 games collected 7 pts. With no bias in my heart it should of been 9. Now we are approaching the seasonal period , with Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool then Man.City, this grouping for me and what we come out with points and performance wise, will give us some idea. 4 wins we are title contenders. 2 wins 2 draws still title contenders 4 draws " " "........... Above we would believe in top 4 at least.Though being Leicester fans we are wise enough to know not even any of these permatations mean we are guarranteed top 10. This so open season is imo not poorer because big teams are not running away with it, its better for it. Lets look at what we have:- W.Ham, Palace, Spurs, Everton,Southampton, Stoke, top half playing some excellent football. Bournemouth, Watford, Norwich playing their brand of football, good to watch, all could be top 8-12 candidates. Newcastle, Swansea , WBA, inconsistent but have good football in them. Sunderland, Villa, well for me they are poor, but also played on the occasion decent football, to ruin it by being attrocious overall. Chelsea and Manutd. Look confused and showing the split difference.Utd poor grinding out pts to stay in contention. Chelsea look better, but are full of errors that lose them points. Man.city, Arsenal, for different reasons so inconsistent, they only know how to laugh or cry. Ourselves, Leicester city even suprising their most staunches of fans, performances unbelievable. Results...crazy.Maybe not our best team ever.....but this is the best ride ever, so far.. and I saw 3 fa cup finals, including the ice-kings and the Bloomfield/Mon eras. This ride though has still along way to go before we can analyse its full story. The owners so far are delivering.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 14 December 2015 Posted 14 December 2015 I hope you manage it mate and not just for LCFC but for the faith and belief you showed. It must have been May, because that's the date on my betting slip. I believed what they were saying, putting €100 at 40/1 that by May 2016 we'd finish in the top 5. Obviously there were times last season when that slip was nearly screwed up and binned; now I'm just holding my breath....
