thybluefox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Lets not worry about these clauses yet, there's no real information that even believes us to think we're actually interested.
inckley fox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 The buy back option would not present us with any profit. They would buy him back for the fee that we pay plus any costs in wages, agents fees etc. We would not lose anything, but in terms of true profit, we wouldn't make anything. This deal would only really be a risk if he turns out to be rubbish and we splash 10m on him and put on 50k a week for the next 5 years. Trouble is if he turns out to be worth 50-60m then we make nothing, but have had his services for a few years I think that depends, doesn't it? Surely they negotiate the buy back fee the same as they negotiate anything else. Or, I may be wrong. In the past, when buy back clauses have been activated and it's been publicly acknowledged, has the fee always been the same as the original fee?

In the past, when buy back clauses have been activated and it's been publicly acknowledged, has the fee always been the same as the original fee? First option clauses would work a bit differently. The way Barca have done it with Everton and Delefeou would be to buy back at the price they sold him for plus any costs incurred while playing for Everton. That's the way I heard it anyway, and I'd imagine it'd be the same with this chap, providing that this isn't a load of bull obviously. It's effectively a loan deal, with no risk on Barca's part. If he's good enough then they'll pay for him anyway, if he's not than someone else pays for him and they get a tidy sum in transfers fees
les-tah Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 If Barca were to buy back a player he would have to be the best player in the premiership by some way... so lets be real chances are slim. Even if hes a worldie here he might not be barca level! How many current Arsenal players would slide into Barca?

Even if hes a worldie here he might not be barca level! How many current Arsenal players would slide into Barca? Not quite. Hypothetically speaking; say we buy him for £8million. He tears the league up for 2 seasons and he's now worth £30million. He wouldn't make the Barca squad, so they're not interested in playing him, but they could buy him back for what we've paid and then make £20million or so profit by selling him straight away. Theoretically, anyway.
FireFox Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Fvck the buy back clause. Just splash the cash and meet his release clause.

Dan Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 That buy back option is pants, if he does well they could buy him back cheap, and sell him for the going rate, but if he's rubbish they've already made a lot of money on him, it's risk free business for them, and lt stops the player becoming an investment for us. It's clever business from Barca really. That was the catch behind Everton getting Deulofeu for £4.4mil. It's effectively a loan which Everton will profit on minimally, suppose it's like Barcelona investing in the hope that the first team football improves the player enough for them. They did it with Fabregas & Pique too.
