brisfox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 If anybody is thinking of going to see Leicester in Los Angeles, by far the cheapest flights are Norweigan Airlines, return flight is £549, about half the price of BA
GaelicFox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 If anybody is thinking of going to see Leicester in Los Angeles, by far the cheapest flights are Norweigan Airlines, return flight is £549, about half the price of BA I have flown with these lot , wasn't too bad actually
EGBFitness Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I have flown with these lot , wasn't too bad actually Yeah same here, really good airline... Especially with wifi on board in Europe
DeclanMC Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Cheapest I've seen is WOW Air, here http://goo.gl/flights/kdBD. I looked on Norwegian and it was asking for £800+. Maybe the lower air fare has sold out already.
Guest Manini Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 For anybody going over, it might be worth looking at flights to JFK or Washington etc and then looking to get an internal flight from one of those. It might work out cheaper it might be more expensive, I have no idea, but I know when I went to America we did this and it was loads cheaper than flying direct to where we were going. It's a bit more leg work though, depends if you can be arsed really doesn't it.

I was actually curious and looked into this, and it's hit or miss because it's all dependent on time, and summer (especially that period) is peak season. DCA/IAD (Washington DC) --> LAX is ~$200 (150 quid) one-way, JFK/LGA --> LAX is about the same. I know Aer Lingus, IcelandAir, other others do RT flights from IAD --> LHR for ~$400-600 (so 300-400 quid). So all added up, really depends if any direct London to LAX cheap flights are gone.
GaelicFox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Spoke to a friend in airline charter business a 747 chartered would work out at around £700 per person EMA or BHX to LAX Surely club will sort one ! Would sell out for sure
promised land Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Surely the club will charter a plane ? European games I'd say yes, a friendly? They don't even run fox travel for local friendlies.

Yeah when we went it was Sepember/October time so like you say, may depend on time of year. I'm sure it's the same as anything isn't it, if you shop around you'll find a good deal.

americanfox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Where do away fans drink in LA ? There are plenty of bars/pubs, it depends on location really. Fox and Hounds certainly has a good ring to it (for us!), but there's also Goal, Joxer Daly's, Ye Old Kings Head, Cock N' Bull, etc. There isn't a culture of an "away" pub in the US, fwiw.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I notice we haven't found out which stadium in LA will host the game yet, so presumably this'll be decided on demand. The Stockholm game against Barcelona will definitely be played in the Friends Arena and the Celtic game will obviously be played at Parkhead. The choice is either the Rose Bowl, with a capacity of 93,000, or the StubHub Center where LA Galaxy play which has a much smaller capacity of 27,000. As neither us or PSG have a massive following in the States yet, I think they're hedging their bets. This might impact on your choice of hotels - I understand there's quite a big distance between the two stadiums.
Shah johns Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I usually get a good price with Air New Zealand, it's stops in LA on route to Aukland

johnny the fox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 This might be a great time to reassemble the baby squad, go down to Compton and kick some ass....

That's what I was aiming at, I'd be astonished if it was at the Rose Bowl. It all depends on how much we and PSG capture the imagination, I think our exploits may spark a fair bit of interest, but I can't see a 93,000 capacity being anywhere near troubled in the States.

brisfox Posted 22 March 2016 Author Posted 22 March 2016 I used to live in San Diego which is about 100 miles south of LA. Carson, where the LA Galaxy play, is in a bad part of town , it's very ghetto. Don't recommend staying there overnight. My wife has friend who's husband was murdered (shot) in Carson at their home. I am planning to go to he game anyway but you need to be on your guard. If you are planning to travel to California , you need to know that you a visa called an ESTA which you can get online. Expect to pay around £1100 return if flying on British Airways. Best places to visit are Hollywood , SeaWorld in San Diego (America's finest city), and Disneyland/ Knottsberry/Farm. Expect to pay around $80 a night for a hotel room. Be careful about wearing Blue in certain parts of LA as they are the gang colours of the Cripps . Their rivals, the Bloods will shoot you for it.
sdb Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Gutted, really want to travel America more and to see LCFC abroad. It's in holiday time. But...my sister is getting married that very day! How annoying?!! Not that id ever want to miss the wedding but the chances of the 2 colliding are literally a million to one.
potter3 Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 Hollywood is a bag of dicks, but we did see somebody get shot, so there's that.
Izzy Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 This might be a great time to reassemble the baby squad, go down to Compton and kick some ass.... Leave it with me - I'll make some calls. Let's go show those Bloods and Crips who's boss (no guns though )
