Things that need including on the new badge:

Elvis Hammond's ankle

Mandaric's moneybags

The Trust's inflated sense of self-importance

A chicken balti pie

All of Kelly's smashing bunch of lads

An LCFC/Yeovil half and half scarf

Some sand from Southend

Tears from Nottinghamshire

And, of course, nothing says 'new Citeh fan' better than a fat old bloke in a Chelsea shirt selling shit scarves.

Consultancy rates reasonable for other projects, postal orders accepted.

Agree with Spudulike on the cinquefoil. It's great to have an addition on our badge which is a very unique sign of Leicester and I think the emblem would look superb on flags etc. At first I didn't realise the cinquefoil on our badge was actually linked to Leicester, but great to know it is. I've seen the likes of Leeds Utd for example having a similar cinquefoil on their badge and I think it looks fantastic on football badges in general, shows a part of heritage.

So in response to the original question on rebranding of the badge, the cinquefoil is very important for me, as well as including the year the club was established on the badge. Only my preferences, however whatever you come up with, the very best of luck with your project.

Yeah I had noticed it was obviously used by Leeds and others too but i didn't realise it was actually as closely linked to Leicester, so thanks to whoever posted that bit of info, very useful. Thanks to you for your good luck wishes too!

As a fellow graphic design student, I'm excited what you're going to produce. Please keep us up to date :)

I'd look at the flag of Leicestershire and see if you can encorporate any of those elements into the current badge but at the same time, stripping back the colours (convert fill to stroke/outlines if that makes sense). Or look at bringing back elements of our older crests into the present one? For research, I'd look at how other football clubs have approached their badges. Are you rebranding it due to our current success of this season?

Also, how come you're starting a project now? My final assessment is in six weeks lol

Thanks for your advice, nice to get a graphics perspective. Very useful   Im just rebranding to freshen it up to be honest. Its always something I've wanted to do and I've obviously never enjoyed supporting this club as much as i do right now so it seemed the right time to do a project close to my heart at the most important time of my course! Im only just starting because my lecturers have been a bit slow writing the briefs  Cheers pal!

Steer clear of the running fox logo.

It looked like the fox was running away and its use coincided with a pretty underwhelming period of our history.

Cheers, I had not thought of it like that!

The badge is only the circle, fox and cinquefoil. If you leave the cinquefoil, you've got to somehow jazz up the circle or fox, if you're going for vaguely the same design.

The cinquefoil has come to represent the city, originating from Beaumount, and celebrating his proud achievements with William the Conquerer, and later successful establishment of Leicester as a thriving Norman stronghold.

Or you could argue mindlessly plastering a dead Norman's coat of arms around the city, and in the badge, is lazy and uninspiring, and merely represents that if you're mates with someone in charge, and you're not shight, you may get given a city.

Hmm, I'm very torn on the Cinquefoil's importance! Thanks :D

Leeds use the white rose not the cinquefoil, mate

Leeds use the white rose not the cinquefoil, mate

Spot on. Interestingly, the white rose actually has nothing to do with Yorkshire....

"Still more surprising is that the association of the white rose with the wider county of Yorkshire appears to be a mainly 20th century phenomenon.  Yorkshire's older towns, such as Leeds and Hull, don't use a rose in their arms but almost all Yorkshire civic arms registered in the last century feature it strongly.  The Yorkshire flag with the heraldic rose dates from the late 1960's and 'White Rose Day' was first celebrated in 1975."

Of course, the Yorkshire tourist board won't mention this

This was one of the issues surrounding the Richard III burial debate. Many (from Yorkshire) couldn't get their heads around the fact that House of York was actually nothing to do with the city of York. The Cousins War (or War of the Roses as it became known much later) was a dynastic struggle between Royal Houses fought in many locations around the country (including just outside of our city at Bosworth). It wasn't between the counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire as many believe.

The Cinquefoil is all about Leicester
