FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but it's transfer related regarding our European targets. I've heard tell that if we leave the EU this Thursday that players that are from the EU and DO NOT fulfil the current International Team Status requirement of Non-EU players will not be eligible for work-permits and won't be allowed in the Premier League, not sure when it would apply. So if they are NOT part of their countries National squad there would be no point trying to sign them. This would be players like Zaza, Lapadula, Hernandez etc. It would also force UP the price of those players eligible and our Premier League targets as the laws of supply and demand laws kick-in. Anyone got any evidence one way or the other on this ??
apple987 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Fantastic news if true. Would mean English players get more of a chance and only the elite foreign players come here
st albans fox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 It won't happen immediately so it's not relevant. Infact, if you signed someone now, you could easily argue that any change in the rules in a couple of years shouldn't apply to that player as at the time of signing the rules applying were ...... Waiting until after a 'leave vote' would negate that argument somewhat.
jayfox26 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Fantastic news if true. Would mean English players get more of a chance and only the elite foreign players come here But also meaning that only the big clubs will be able to sign the top players. Would mean no more Kante's etc
shen Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Fantastic news if true. Would mean English players get more of a chance and only the elite foreign players come here Yeah... It means players like Kanté, Huth and Ulloa would never play in the Premier League. Your argument is flawed and naïve.
apple987 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Yeah... It means players like Kanté, Huth and Ulloa would never play in the Premier League. Your argument is flawed and naïve. Huth? Pretty sure he could considering he's a German international
SMX11 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Just more scaremongering. Nothing will change until new relationships are agreed by both sides!
nnfox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Fantastic news if true. Would mean English players get more of a chance and only the elite foreign players come here Yes. True. It would be beneficial to the national game. But also meaning that only the big clubs will be able to sign the top players. Would mean no more Kante's etc Yes. True. But only if the big club continued with their current lazy recruitment processes of only looking at top international footballers rather than nurturing rough diamonds from elsewhere. Yeah... It means players like Kanté, Huth and Ulloa would never play in the Premier League. Your argument is flawed and naïve. Yes. True. But then again, the likes of Vardy, Simpson, Morgan, King, Drinkwater, James, Albrighton et al might have got their chance to play at the top level earlier in their career.
FantasticMrFox&Son Posted 19 June 2016 Author Posted 19 June 2016 It wasn't meant to "scare", I'm just interested in how some of the bigger clubs (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal) that use the "vaccuum cleaner" approach to squad building might have to change their approach. As for the timing, I've no idea one way or the other but I believe it would be down to the Home Office and their interpretation of the current regulations surrounding the issue of work permits for foreign players.
