Life is a lot like toilet paper.

You're either on a roll, or taking shit from some asshole.

Whenever two people meet, there are really six people present. There is each man as he sees himself, each man as the other person sees him, and each man as he really is.

Love her.

Be prepared to die for her.

Buy her jewellery.

Miss the game for her.

Be interested in what she has to say.

An interesting fact about the puffball: they produce the most progeny of any living thing.

It was the size of a melon and it tasted very nice indeed Bucey ! ...    I will certainly be having that again !  (Took a pic but had eaten half of it by then ...    note the snout bottom left ...   even the hound who is definitely not a vegetarian seemed to like the smell !) ...

Loads of spare to have at a later date (see other pic) ....

I'm glad you liked it, mate. :)

Do you think it tastes similar to steak? It's been many years since I ate it, so I'm not sure how reliable my opinion is.

I found some field mushrooms the size of dinner plates at the weekend - fried them up in butter and ate them in a granary bread sandwich with fried eggs and some grilled halloumi (which tastes remarkably like bacon). Food for the gods.

Funnily enough I had steak and chips last night so can easily compare ...   I see where you are coming from but it is a much softer taste and doesn't linger long in the mouth ...   to me it was a'lighter' meal and better as a breakfast than an evening meal.    But as I said it was very nice in its own way and I will definitely be having it again ...   maybe with a bit of Halloumi.

P.S.   Don't know if I've mentioned this but we have a fig tree in the garden and made a preserve out of it ...   get an oatmeal biscuit, put a slice of goats cheese on it, then some preserve and then a drizzle of honey ...    loooovely !!

That sounds right up my street - I'm a big fan of cheese, particularly goat's cheese.

Next time you're in the woods, keep your eyes out for Oyster mushrooms - they are quite abundant at this time of year:

Nothing says "I'm going for a shit" quite like walking back from the garage at 8.30 am on a Sunday with loo roll under your arm.

Blimey, that's huge.

I've never seen anything like it, so I've no idea if it's edible or not, but I wouldn't try to identify it from a photograph. I've got one of those field guides and most fungi have a checklist of identifying features, including what the underside looks like/ what colour it is when peeled/ colour of stem, etc.
