Wilson_6 Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 Aup every one, I've just set up a new 6 a side team to play in the Champion Soccer league in Chesterfield. I'ts been a while since i played 6 a side. Just wanted some tips from people as i dont want to get battered every week and then for players to stop turning up and me being left owing loads of money. Was thinking of using a 3-1-1 with 2 wing backs who defend when we dont have the ball and push up when we do.
Samilktray Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 It's 6 a side bruv just score more than the other team
ozleicester Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 Make sure youve got.... A very good keeper 2 fast fit young players 2 older players who can hold and pass 1 nutcase that can either score at will, or scare the opposition to death
Fox92 Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 Chesterfield you're half hour from me... Need a spare one? Nah seriously last time I played 6 a side was at Uni about a year or so back now, and we got battered near enough everyweek so not get any good tips but I would say warm up because I used to take that for granted then on a cold rainy day (setting the scene there) pulled me hamstring.

Captain... Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 Most important is get a good keeper. Second is defensive style, zonal or man to man. Man to man is easier and you just shout at everyone to pick up a man and make sure they stick with them. Follow your man not the ball. Formation becomes irrelevant as you stick to your man so you need competent footballers. Zonal is more formation driven and better if you aren't all fit, always keep at least 2 men back and one man up and your 2 fittest in midfield covering the defence. I don't like playing this way as it relies on players intelligence, man to man is easier "have you got a man? no, then get a man!" but you get pulled out of formation easier. 6 a side is still a bit of a free for all, seven a side is when formation and tactics make a bigger impact.
Harry - LCFC Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 2-3 works fine I think. Fills the space nicely and there's nothing complicated to it. I play at the back and in my experience defending in 6-a-side is often as simple as getting men back, the opposition just don't have the room to score. You can find your own way to score goals, I keep myself well away from that!
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2016 Posted 22 September 2016 Don't mark man if the opposition are fitter and faster than you. You'll end up chasing shadows.
Wilson_6 Posted 22 September 2016 Author Posted 22 September 2016 we have a very good goalie. I'd say half the team are very fit the other are quite unfit. Think i'm gonna go for more of a defensive zonal marking for the first week or 2 and see how that goes. Always going to leave 1 up top as an out let (me)
