I remember a game at Filbo against Tranmere(Hope it was Tranmere else this story is already fu#ked!!?)

Midweek, freezing cold, snow and stuff I'm sure it was a late call to play it and I'm.sure that Speedie fella did something.

Also our Wembley encounter!

Didn't Tranmere have a geezer who had an awesome throw in!!!?

The likes of you fans are the true roots of football. Its easy to support ManU,Liverpool etc but to actually go and watch your club no matter what League is whats si special about British football fans. Respect!

Dave Challinor was the bloke with the long throw's name I reckon.

Thank you for all the kind words coming Tranmeres way! We are currently managerless and Nigel Adkins has turned us down it looks like Jim Bentley is the next manager.

Were live on BT Sport at 5.30 this saturday Dagenham away give it a watch. Leicester will be the only side im europe who i support this week! A good season for you lot would be 6th-10th in the league a cup run and out of the group stages of the champions league to get abit of realism back at Leicester!

Best of luck.

Yep last minute. I was 6, think it was a night match and my dad decided to leave early to beat the traffic. Walking up Sawday Street as we heard the massive roar.

Helps to remind us of the true perspective, and why we are/were loved by many fans AROUND THE WORLD.

90+% of fans WW support never to be seen top 5 placing.

One reason I will hope and still dream of mixing it with the big boys, by shear bloody mindness

not  without some skill.

I will dream still of top 4, and a new experience of going as far as what we can squeeze out of the CL

out of the group, then  at least through one KO stage.

We the foxes fans owe it to our  90+% brothers, to Chill out , and enjoy the ride and dream.

Not to go too heavy on our whining a n d jizzing off City players, manager and realising our

actual success.

We could of scooped up Lennon or AN.OTHER and be dropping to league 1.:sweating:

To the original poster, do Tranmere actually have a fanbase they can call their own?

Id heard from several people that a large proportion of the fanbase was made of Liverpool and Everton fans who were watching Tranmere that day due to them games not clashing and going to both, or a long away trip where people have stayed at home instead.

I dont know how true this is, i just found it interesting id heard it from a few people.

Its strange to see them down there in the non league. Throughout history theyve always been a very respectable club in what must be an extremely tough situation, as im sure every good youngster from the Merseyside area is poached by Liverpool and Everton.

Despite that, weve had some good battles over the years in playoff games, and of course at Wembley in the Worthington Cup final, and im surprised it all went south so quickly.

I have no doubts though that they will be playing in the league next year and getting back to where they belong, which in my opinion would be an upper league 1, lower championship club.

Yes, that must have been March/April 1992. Sat in the Filbert Street end and remember Erik Nixon (I think?) bollocking his defenders with some rather industrial language. Some bloke near me said "Oi, goalie - mind your fcuking language - there's kids in here". [Nixon] turned round with gloves hands raised in apology and said "sorry mate".

Tranmere were the original pioneers of Friday night football I think. Used to play their home games on Friday evening to avoid clashing with Everton/Liverpool (one of whom would generally be at home on the Saturday)

Stockport used to do the same I think. It was around the time that all clubs charged the same ticket prices. It was meant to help lower league clubs but teams like Tranmere and Stockport suffered playing on Saturday as paying the same to watch Tranmere or Everton/Liverpool who were higher up the pyramid or Stockport ditto Man U and Citeh meant they were losing on attendances as ''fans'' would prefer to pay the same amount to go to see the ''bigger'' clubs. Hence they switched to Fridays to try and improve the gate.
