Important fixtures:

April 1st - Saturday --- Stoke (H) ----------- Malaga (A)

April 4th - Tuesday --- Sunderland (H) ---- Real Sociedad (H) - currently 4 points behind Atletico

April 8th - Saturday --------------------------- Real Madrid (A) - "away"

April 9th - Sunday ----- Everton (A)

April 12th - Wednesday ------ First leg (at Atletico)

April 15th - Saturday - Crystal Palace (A)

April 16th - Sunday --------------------------- Osasuna (H) - bottom of the table and look dead and buried

April 18th - Tuesday -------- Second leg (at Leicester)

So although we're away to Everton ahead of the away/first leg, Atletico could be fighting for 4th in two tough fixtures.

If we can pick up 7/9 points and pull away from the relegation fight in the next 3 games, then maybe we can rest players for Everton and Crystal Palace.

Pretty interesting how they are going to approach the game coming off the back of a must win game for them.

I wonder if they would be happy to see a draw/small loss knowing they have potential to score some goals themselves and have theoretically a 3 pointer in between both legs to maybe rest some players.

But Madrid won't come at us like Sevilla did, they will sit back like usual and we will have to break them down. I'd say they are best cup side in the competition.

How I see the tie progressing is like this: at the Calderon, it'll start a tight affair. Madrid will score in the first half, we'll look poor. Second half, we'll pick up, score, only for them to get another one to win the game.

At the KP, we'll start quickly and score, thus forcing them to have to come out and play as they'll need the away goal. We'll then win 2-0.

Thats how I see it panning out against Athletico. If we were playing anyone else, away from home in the first leg, I think they'd be out of sight come the return fixture.

Just how I see it and of course, could be miles off.

So you have boldly predicted it will play out nearly identically to a tie that finished only 4 days ago? lollollol

Yes, cos that's how I think it will play out. If we were playing anyone else, I don't think it would. That's kinda my point., and why I think we can progress. Blind faith maybe, but I'm pleased with our draw and am explaining why.

Thanks for joining Samir, but Sevilla aren't in the draw. Even if they were, you're suspended for the first leg anyway. Something to do with taking Vardy's bait, can't quite remember.

I'm not sure what you are on about but ok, if you can see I be on this account for around a year and not just joined so don't really get what you are on about.

Their midfield is impressive - Saul, Koke and Gabi. Obviously Griezmann is a danger, and Gameiro not's bad. They have a track record of being strong defensively, but I wonder whether the ageing process is setting. Savic failed at Man City, and I think Vardy will relish the chance of playing against him.

I wonder whether we should start with Mendy to provide some defensive cover in the away leg?

Atletico aren't in the title race, surely they'll be happy with maintaining top 3/4 for the CL spot and rest players for their league game vs Real.

They can't be "happy maintaining top 3/4" by resting players for crucial games. They are in a top 4 race.

It was a topical joke based on your name, no offence meant my friend.
