I see us literally having a real shout of getting through. I can see the logic to this from a pure quality perspective, however from a playing style perspective this could possible be the worst draw we could have had. They are not a team that relies on having large amounts of possession like all of the other teams left in the competition, which could have played into our hands. These guys are basically us, with more experience and more quality. Is going to be very interesting to see how this pans out but can't see many goals.

They don't score many goals, especially not for a top Spanish side, but don't concede many either. Like Sevilla, their team isn't full of pace. It's more a possession based, disciplined, ponderous type of build up play. If we can limit them to few goals at their place, and nick one (this will be the clincher imo) then we can get them back to our place and do what we did against Sevilla, all over again. Monaco score goals for fun, Barce, Real Madrid are full of pace and skill, Bayern are so well drilled AND have flair, Juve are nearly impossible to beat at their place. Yep, I see Atletico as a really good draw. I give us a chance over two legs.
Sir Shep Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 So just got home from work to see we have, predictably, drawn Atletico Madrid. All in all honesty it's not really their players I fear but the size of the note filled brown envelopes they'll chuck at the ref.

KingsX Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 The long shots. But not crazy long. Had the draw gone another way, the market wouldn't see this kind of chance.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 This is an awful draw .. Atletico have reached the final twice in the last three seasons and have one of the meanest defences in World football ... still Leicester like to do the impossible so you never know
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Sevilla had win 3 Europa league on the trot. And are third in la liga.... We can beat atletico.... But i fear greizman.

In truth there were no easy ties for us, we were always going to be the the underdog and you can't say we'd have a better chance against Real, Barca, Bayern or Juve.
Mike Oxlong Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Saw Man U had drawn Anderlecht. Thought the lucky sods have got yet another easy draw. And then I remembered that they are in the Europa League and we are not. And everything seemed good again.
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 We can definitely do these over. Pleased to have got an easier draw but would have preferred Dortmund or Monaco simply because we played this shower of cheating ***** 20 years ago. No doubt the cheque books will be flying in the face of the referee once again.
ALC Fox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Really tough draw this one, I like Atleti a lot, especially Carrasco. But then they would all be tough. I do think the revenge factor will give it an extra dimension for our fans, though. We already seem to have turned it up to 11 at the King Power but that additional edge to the game could mean it gets cranked up to 12. The second leg being at home is wonderful as well. If we can be dogged and fight like warriors and get an away goal, I think we can do the business at the King Power. The odds are against us again, but this team loves proving people wrong.
FireFox Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Important fixtures: April 1st - Saturday --- Stoke (H) ----------- Malaga (A) April 4th - Tuesday --- Sunderland (H) ---- Real Sociedad (H) - currently 4 points behind Atletico April 8th - Saturday --------------------------- Real Madrid (A) - "away" April 9th - Sunday ----- Everton (A) April 12th - Wednesday ------ First leg (at Atletico) April 15th - Saturday - Crystal Palace (A) April 16th - Sunday --------------------------- Osasuna (H) - bottom of the table and look dead and buried April 18th - Tuesday -------- Second leg (at Leicester) So although we're away to Everton ahead of the away/first leg, Atletico could be fighting for 4th in two tough fixtures. If we can pick up 7/9 points and pull away from the relegation fight in the next 3 games, then maybe we can rest players for Everton and Crystal Palace.

They topped a group with Bayern in it, beating them at home and only losing 1-0 away! They have contested 2 of the last 3 finals, they are a seriously good team, but I suppose they all are at this level! if we beat them it will be a amazing achievement, I think Monaco, were the easiest opponent and would have suited our style!

De gussissman? Griezmann? You see, I think we'd really struggle against Monaco. We don't do well against free scoring, quick, Devil may care, type sides. We'd have gone to their place and probably lost 5-2 or summat!

Raj Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Gotta remember these buggers have been in the finals a couple of times and only lost on penos. The French dude upfront is World class and the managers a little bastard who knows football inside out..very very tough game

People kept bringing up statistics last season why we couldnt win the PL.. Again for why an early exit from CL this season.... Why posters pick on these points, to try and justify the negative against us, always bewilders me. Wake up..has an old Italian legend once said....hey...dilly ding dilly dong...!!! Not only are we in the CL, we are in the quarter finals.....on your stats. Past an present....WHY....??? Why start the fear factor, when we the fans should be lapping up this great period.. I look forward with joy, not trepidation...life is too short and such chances so few This is about what we Leicester could /can do, not about the should doos from the these 7 obvious Superstar teams. Why worry what stats say...
brucey Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 They play like Leicester on PEDs Not optimistic... but cheering myself up by watching lots of terrified West Ham fans previewing the game on Youtube

I'd say they are best cup side in the competition.
Wymsey Posted 17 March 2017 Posted 17 March 2017 Going to win this (tie and cup), can really sense it imo.
