Guest the fox Posted 27 July 2017 Posted 27 July 2017 , people outside of england have a better chance of watching the games, legally AND illegally
Houdini Logic Posted 27 July 2017 Posted 27 July 2017 I did some work on some really clever software which Sky are putting in this year. Let's just say that if you choose to stream any of their content (by this, I mean you create a stream of your Sky content to share) then you will definitely be found out - no way around it
jimmer Posted 27 July 2017 Posted 27 July 2017 The new sky encryption is on the brink of being cracked anyway, so by the end of the year the card sharing will be back n full force.

An away match can be a 2 hour flight . slightly different circumstances. If I wanted to watch a home MLS game (Chicago Fire), it'd take me an hour and a half via public transportation. Probably an hour and twenty minutes if I drove and parked. And that's one way.
WigstonWanderer Posted 27 July 2017 Posted 27 July 2017 What happens if in Germany and other parts of Europe? Is there an equivalent of a 3pm ban?
davieG Posted 28 July 2017 Author Posted 28 July 2017 I don't believe Germany or any other country has the country wise league structure we have with 92 professional league clubs plus all the minor leagues below. As for the NFL they share all their income from merchandise and TV equally amongst all the clubs.
davieG Posted 28 July 2017 Author Posted 28 July 2017 If we ignore the the 3pm issue the best solution as I see it would be to allow a minimum of two TV companies to stream all the games so we have a choice as to who we buy the games from, hence some real competition. They would still be able to show moved games live but the other company would still be allowed to stream it. These would probably end up being the big team derby. There would also be a need to regulate how the TV money is split between the clubs I'm sure they'll be some flaws in this but it does solve a lot of problems.

Although extremely different circumstances, it still can be difficult for the average person to travel and even have the availability to buy an away ticket for a premier league game. It just would be better if there was a legal option for it to be televised.

But significantly it will no longer be numerical and it will be for one frame at set points throughout the match, so people won't notice it and can't allow for it

I take it they'd make it move around all over the place if they were being clever about it

The watermark will appear for a fraction of a second (one frame) over the whole screen and it won't be obvious it's a watermark. I can't really say much but I guess if you think how you could represent a person's unique Sky number in other ways then you may be able to work it out. Very clever and simple idea but it will work.

Yeh, it's a clever idea. I can't see it helping with this issue a whole lot though considering most of the broadcasting streams are from other countries TV that don't have things like this in place
dmayne7 Posted 28 July 2017 Posted 28 July 2017 Maybe I'm wrong but my interpretation of that is that the focus is on BT and Sky streams in this country? And that makes sense because as a UK resident, you have access to purchase these channels. Surely they can't focus on the 3pm streams as much because the legal purchase of overseas broadcaster channels is not really a done thing.
eunmac Posted 28 July 2017 Posted 28 July 2017 If you get desperate, you can always move to Australia where you can get all EPL games (live and replays) - pretty much for free, just by having a particular mobile phone account. The main drawbacks... 1) The 2am kickoff. 2) Listening to Aussies calling it Soccer.

My guess will be when this is in place and proven to work, that they may well try to mandate the technology through part of the broadcast rights. Just a guess though and I never think you'll truly solve the problem because for every smart solution there are many more smart people out there working out ways around it.

Or do they suffer a similar situation? I might be wrong. But I believe in the USA the rest of the states can watch a game. But they have state wide blackout or something to make sure attendances are not affected. Ie if Dallas are playing at home you can't watch it locally but it is live in miami, new York etc. Maybe this could work here. So if city are at home you can't watch but if away pubs etc could show it. Would help the local economy at the same time possibly.
