He is too far off his line. Goalkeepers don't dive sideways, they dive forward, but when you go further and further forward, the assistant should have told the referee that it has to be retaken. INCIDENTS: Juan Mata sees a goal disallowed for offside, while Marouane Fellaini nets from a seemingly offside position SCENARIOS: A tight call sees Mata flagged for offside and denied the opener in the first half. Fellaini goes on score United's second in the 82nd minute after Jesse Lingard's cross-shot was diverted home by the knee of the Belgian. DERMOT'S VERDICT: Mata decision correct, Fellaini decision wrong Were United’s two offside calls correct? DERMOT SAYS: Lightning strikes twice because this is almost identical to the Alexandre Lacazette incident last week. It's so tight, so marginal, but it's just offside. Fellaini is offside. I heard an interesting view of it on the weekend, because of it striking Wes Morgan on its way through, but that's immaterial as that is all it was - Morgan doesn't play the ball and Fellaini is just offside. Sounds fair enough. I thought Kasper was well off his line when he made the save. 50/50 whether the ref asks these to be retaken though. Kasper did us well. So result would have been the same.
Lovejoy Posted 29 August 2017 Posted 29 August 2017 Went to Old Trafford and we really weren't that awful. Yes we were wasteful with the ball and the goals are disappointing (including Fellaini's offside goal) but we need to remember we were up against an in-form 11 that was worth £400m and will smash half the league. Leicester are not a big club, do not have elite players and do not have windows where we spend a quarter of a billion. Some really fcuking thick reactions on here where people really do live in a different world. I thought our support was decent on Saturday and most fans there were realistic and appreciated we were up against it.

The climb back down to mid table or worse will be sanctioned by reactions like this - not good enough and irrelevant how much their team cost - we didn't need to lose we just stopped trying and played too many makeweight players - not good enough

If we all stamp our feet and cry like children do you think we'd do better? We didn't need to lose, why ,because you say so?We were away to the potential champions, better teams than us will lose there this season.Being an arsehole and pretending to know better won't change that.
Foxxed Posted 31 August 2017 Posted 31 August 2017 The thing that saddened me what how quickly we threw it away. We defended resolutely for most of the match. And Kasper was heroic. But then our subs gave United the gap they needed. It's refreshing Shakey isn't going for the negative tactics a lot of us feared. But when we brought Gray on to add some needed oomph we gave them the slight opening they needed to break our defence. Leading up to the first goal you can see Gray one on one with a United player. And he looks like a rabbit in the headlights. He's passed easily and in a few minutes later they're in the lead. It's hard not to wonder what if Shakey's had been a little more cautious, what if he'd not taken off a defensive winger for a young attacking winger against the most ferious attacking force in the Premier League. I'm not overly critical of Shakey though. He is still a very new manager. And he is going against the tactics I fear he'd go for. But it's just disappointing to see it thrown away in such a way. Still, they're one of the best teams so far this year. And as a team we played well, albeit painfully missing a solid creative midfielder. As long as keep our heads up we'll continue on.

What a ridiculous statement - decent signings after we won it and a power manager brought in during the summer and we would be right up there - playing Matty James who looks out of condition and was never really that good anyway against Pogba is high comedy - call it being an arsehole (you really are a nice guy) if you like and I obviously bow to your superior football knowledge but two years on from winning the league and less than 6 months after knocking Seville out of the Champions League to cowering like a baby because we're playing man U says more about your lack of belief and acceptance of mediocrity than my football knowledge.

The point is: The fans' attitude makes NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER TO TRANSFER POLICY.
