On the basis of losing the way we did against Palace and stuttering to draws against Swansea and Stoke, I'd say that we really can't consider the run-in easy until we actually start producing results against said 'easier' opponents. What I want to see above all else at long fvcking last is a win against Arsenal; get that sorted and I can call this a successful season!

The way the league is below us, all clubs will be happy to leave here with a point. and none of them have given up. last two games of the season will be arsenal at home and spurs away !  That could work in our favour with nearly all their players looking forward to russia and arsenal no chance of top four and spurs safe in top 4.

Run in is all set up nicely except that we appear to have pulled out the deck chairs unseasonably early, and our manager has become over cautious and seems to set up to just avoid a defeat.

also, 52 points is another 16 points from ten games - over a full season that's 61 points, usually enough for 7th, so how would that be a bad end to the season?

Were did I say we where shut up shop, I saw we are conservative, by picking two holding midfielders and our generally style of play! 

 

As your said, we are struggling to score against teams in the bottom 3....

 

The standard of the PL this year is poor, very poor, yes 61 puts would be a good season but we aren't going to get that many, I'm being generous say we will get 50!

Saying we play to not lose first and foremost is implying we look to shut up shop.

 

Didn't say we'd get 61 points, read the post again: over a full season 1.6 points per game would equal 61 points  (1.6 * 38 = 60.8), so saying we'll only make 52 points, as if the requisite 1.6ppg for near 25% of a season would be poor, sounds ridiculous: 52 points would be a good season given how much of a failure shakespeare was.
