Loyalty in football is a big hunk of shit! The fans aren't loyal to the players and the players shouldn't be loyal to the fans.

Maybe with some players Foxy ...   and maybe with some fans ...      but thank god not all of them.

You having a bad day ?

No, I am not. but thanks for asking, country:thumbup:

Kingy for me was the last straw. I'm tired of this loyalty bulljive! If kingy, an academy player whos been with the club through the thick and thin. through league 1 and a PL title. fighting to stay in the league and scoring again Man city can't get the love or respect he deserves, who will? The man was just minding his business as a squad player and a lot of people wanted him out, called him names and discredited what he has done. 10 years down the drain just like that!

Some still believe in loyalty (players and fans) but for the majority, it's just business. Most guys will jump ship the moment they get the chance and most teams will replace a player with a better option faster than a heartbeat.

Imagine if this said Gray, not Fuchs. There'd be a riot.

And rightly so.

Fuchs has successfully played a significant role in our two biggest seasons in history, lifting the Premier League and going to the last 8 of the Champions League.

Gray was bit-part.

Fuchs is 31. Family and outside ventures become the focus. Demarai Gray is 21 and his only focus should be becoming a footballer worthy of a starting spot in a Premier League team, because that he is not at present.

To be honest, I only posted it as clickbait ;).

As other posters have said, the headline doesn't really do justice to what Fuchs is saying. I also think though that Gray gets a hard time just for being a bit of a geezer.

Maybe you only work for yourself but many of us don't. I work for my students and I'm sure that many others are not as cynical as you, especially those working in public jobs and hopefully the service industries.

I'm not reading anything into this interview about Fuchs but I'd like to think that footballers in general play not only for their wage packets but also the fans who cheer them on.

As for Fuchs, I like his media personality but think it is time for him to move onto football in the states, his prem life has expired.

I hope this forum is an outlet for your dourness.

How many of us go to work because it is the best thing for our company, or our coworkers?

Thereis absolutely nothing wrong with him playing for himself. There is everything wrong with playing selfishly and trying to accumulate statistics to the detriment of the team. Fuchs has never done that. Fuchs has been and almost certainly will continue to be a model teammate. He has simply decided to prioritize himself and his family in his decision making going forward. Well done.

I knows he’s a very likeable fellow but I do wonder what effect travelling to New York every other week must have on him. Maybe that’s partly why he lost his place?

Don't be silly. We all know Puel wants a marauding LB, and while we don't have any on our squad, we do have Chilwell, who can bring the ball forward, even if he has very little meaningful impact on the attack. Neither make sense in the future, but for the time being, Chilwell more closely resembles the player Puel plans to buy this summer to play LB.
