ruben neves started in portugal’s “competitive” game tonight after 4 similar games, if you’re good enough you’re good enough.

I agree but just prefer players to have had to really earn their place because a few have been gifted caps recently like Abraham and Solanki.

Maddison had had a couple of good games and a couple of average ones so that’s why I feel like this is just a bit too soon for him. He’s undoubtedly getting called up in the future unless something unthinkable happens so let’s keep him grounded and enjoying his football with us.

As for Neves, he’s played in the champions league has he not and dropped well below his level to join Wolves.

Callups for Solanke, Abraham and even Gray are possibly because they all could represent a different country to England so probably just tying them down long term (Although those games were friendlies so they could still switch) and make them feel valued and denote there is progression from the under 21s.

Probably more just the German way of doing things, get the young lads in for less important games so they can get used to it all by the time they're good enough.

I have no idea why but I do have a feeling that by March, Vardy will be back in the England set up, hopefully by then Chilwell, Gray and Maddison have joined Maguire in being regular call ups

Even the slight possibility of seeing 5 Leicester players lineup in an international for England is a little exciting. Never expected to see it in my lifetime.

Do people not prefer this spray and pray approach to caps to having to watch the same old 23 playing for years and years even when they were past it like, we had to suffer through for decades???

at least this way they’re called up, get a feel for the set up and when they’re fully ready integrate much quicker than someone like Walcott who didn’t kick a ball for Arsenal and got taken to a sodding World Cup lol

Only a positive in my eyes.
