This is all part of the ‘gateway’ the progression through the England set up?

Solanke and Tammy Abraham both had similar call ups in the past. Despite both having little impact at there clubs but had performed well for junior England sides .

Fair play to all involved Long may it continue..

Leicester fans never change do they. We get three lads in the England squad for the first time in 40 ****ing years and all folks can offer by way of congratulations is "they're only in to flog tickets". So odd.

If that was genuinely the case do you not think they'd have got Vardy to bow out in this game? Really don't have Southgate as the type to go in for taking orders from above. He just believes in these lads - more of us should too.

As a great man once said...

"That's how people like you work! Your ego is so out of whack that it will do whatever it can to protect itself. And people with a messed up ego can do these mental gymnastics to convince themselves they're awesome, when really, they're just douchebags!"

Gray was man of the match last game v Holland under 21. If he wasn’t promoted who should have been?

During the BT commentary Chris Sutton said words to the effect of "during this performance today Gray has been the one    player to have shown he is capable of stepping up to the full set up out of everyone playing today "

It is deserved .

To be fair, Gray isn't even in particularly great form.

Chilwell probably does deserve it to be honest, but Gray? Come on. You're more cynical than that, admit it. You know they're probably right.

Gray has been comfortably England U21's best player for ages now to be fair.

If you’re an FA member they’re pretty cheap, they emailed me last week offering me tickets through the grassroots network  for £25 adults and £10 children

Seen loads moaning about the price, even though they’ve brought tickets themselves lol

I've only seen people slating the top end tickets? Not sure there's any hypocrisy in that?

Absolutely delighted for them both. Even more so though that they aren’t flying out to Latvia for a 90 minute match on Tuesday night. Hopefully mean they’re in better shape for Bournemouth  :scarf:

If you have the ability then the rest comes down to mentality and confidence so by the Bournemouth game lets hope these guys are still in cloud 9 and perform out their skin and get us another 3 points.

So you don’t think they’re there on merit?

Do you think they would have been picked if this was played at Old Trafford?

Aye and I don't doubt but I'm not really sure that's the best way to pick for the national team.

I’m just gutted it’s not a TV... since when did friendlies get taken off ITV?

Also, I remember the last time England played at the Walkers you could just buy tickets from the club, now you have to register with England seems more complicated than necessary.

It’s on Sky Sports Main event, but I agree it’s a shame that the FA appear to have sold out to sky

It could of easily been a cameo of  Glenn Murray or Troy deeney(according to fans) who are never going to be in the team in the next tournament! So I think the youth way is the right decision.

Some people are never happy. We have some of the brightest young players in the league in our squad, two of whom are now given the chance to play in the Senior England side. Both still have work to do but they’ve started this campaign strongly, Chilwell in particular. Let’s just be proud and back them on Tuesday night if they get in the pitch. 3 players in the England squad with potentially Maddison to move up to the seniors as well. Bloody brilliant :scarf::englandsmile4wf:

Yes, It would have been weird if someone else had been promoted after their performances last week, especially at left back after Shaw’s withdrawal.

Great news for both. They've both worked so hard to improve since last season. Well deserved.

When was the last time a someone developed city academy when on to play for England?

Emile heskey

Yeah, Heskey and before that Lineker and Shilton I would have thought.

Scary to think the time that has elapsed between. Here's hoping the next gap is shorter.

Not really.  Heskey's era was the last time that we were any good, followed by the wilderness decade.
