VLC86 Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Anyone going to any of the gigs on this? The ones I’ve been to in the past have been great fun. I also have 3x tickets to see Adam Kay at the curve on 23/2 at 7.30 for sale if anyone is interested.
matty98 Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Wanted to see Tom Rosenthal but tickets had all gone by the time i looked
The Syrup Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Russell Howard has cancelled his appearance, luckily the 2 singing women from those Nationwide ads are playing at the Curve to make up for it.

Voll Blau Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Any of the gigs at littler venues that people would recommend? Do enjoy trying out new comedians.

I would say do the Just the tonic ones where they have loads on, had some crackers on in them last year. Tony Cowards is playing I think, he does 1 linners and is really funny. The just the tonic ones are like 7 acts for £7 etc. Andrew o Neil is class as well, seen him a few times and going again this year.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Well firstly, goes without saying but this particular Mark Watson show is fantastic so go see it if you can, as good as he's ever been. Just glancing at the line up, seen many of these and would personally recommend (I'd make a terrible critic tbh): Glenn Moore - that show was great, first time he's nailed the narrative, think it was nominated for best show at Edinburgh George Egg - tbh it's a bit weird to begin with and no idea how he pulls it off but cooking using random household objects mixed with comedy somehow works. Normally get to try the food at the end too (probs depends on venue and crowd) Rob Oldham - not a fantastic show but some great parts to it, might be tiresomely political for some. Think it was his first full show. Jack Barry - just a funny man, saw as a WIP at Vault last year and was just clever, confessional comedy about sex, not standard cheap fayre. Jonny Pelham - seeing this WIP after he's doing Leicester so no idea if it's any good but his first show was superb, funny stories about him growing up in Bradford, his disability, and being part of a Bangladeshi gang in school Max and Ivan - Always worth seeing. Saw this WIP last week and whilst I didn't think it was as good as their other stuff, it's still great although does suffer a couple of dips. They normally do character stuff and this is slightly more about them. Sindhu Vee - never expected to like her, is pretty standard household/marriage/kids observational stuff but there's something about her that makes it better, idk Pierre Novellie - can be a bit, I can't think of a word better than annoying, and a bit monologue but does subtle, original wit really well and is basically a show tiring into identity politics by doing a bit of identity politics Ross Smith - only ever seen him as an MC so no idea about his show but one I'd definitely like to see Adam Kay - really good writing, he reads bits of his book about his time as a junior doctor and adds some songs in. It's just well written, funny, and maintains a narrative about an NHS needing change and help from politicians. Mention for Roisin and Chiara - never have I understood a show less than theirs, and I found it weird and I laughed but I don't know if I enjoyed it. Got decent reviews though.
SemperEadem Posted 1 February 2019 Posted 1 February 2019 Leicester really ought to shout about this more.
Durnerz Posted 5 February 2019 Posted 5 February 2019 I've got tickets for a couple of shows, looking forward to it!

Bellend Sebastian Posted 5 February 2019 Posted 5 February 2019 Jo Neary is on at the Criterion. I've no idea if her act is any good, but her turn as Milky Sue in Man Down made me fair piss myself so might be worth a look. I was bought tickets for Tom Allen and Henning Wehn for me birthday, very much looking forward to them
Durnerz Posted 7 February 2019 Posted 7 February 2019 I went to the gig last night at The Criterion, given that it was the 'unofficial' launch party many acts began making their way over from the official party at Peter Pizzeria as no one was there! So we got extra acts, the quality of the stand ups was brilliant and I never expected it to be that good, for a fiver you can't go wrong.
