Our last appearance in the FA Cup Final . Our opponents ? Manchester City .

payback time :scarf::chant:

(hopefully)

I’ll never forget their poor gamesmanship when we were fighting for our lives under Adams. They really had nothing to play for and they did their best to put Dickov off and succeeded.

Today I hope we return the favour.

Nothing to play for isn't correct. They were six points ahead of us and defeat would've left them three ahead with three to play.

It was a huge match.

I thought they were all but safe?

Neil Young!..

Thought once he'd scored Manchester City would be after the goal rush?

Remember watching it on television and still remember that goal. Think Man City played in red/black stripes

You are old if you can remember it. :(

I'm old (56) and can't remember it. My first FA Cup final memories were Arsenal v Liverpool in 1971.

Only got 5 years on you.

Also remember watching the 66 World cup final

No, they were three points above Leeds in 18th.

That would be about right. Most peoples first proper football memories are around the 8 year old age.

I managed to get a lift down to Wembley for this final but went without a ticket. Just before the kickoff I managed to knock a tout down to £4 for the attached £3 seat and took my place as the match kicked off.

Can't remember too much now about the match but do remember the huge disappointment on the journey back home.

I no longer have that ticket stub as I sold it on ebay in 2009 for a profit.

If John Sjoberg had been fit to play at centre half, maybe we'd have won. In those days, two of the three channels (BBC1 and ITV) televised it. Another TV highlight came three months later with the first man on the Moon. That year, it was a tale of two Neils - Young and Armstrong!

My dad got me all 4 of the original FA Cup final programmes mounted and framed a few years ago for my 21st birthday. He must of had to search high and low on eBay for them all. It’s the best gift I’ve ever received - i’m looking at it on my wall right now, the Man City one has always been my favourite.
