Does anybody have, or do we need virus protection on mobile phones and tablets,  just asking as a complete numpty in that area and my subscription to McAfee is up for renewal, had it for my laptop but thats died hence the tablet,  but I used to get multiple devices with my subscription so use it on my phone and tablet. I'm using a Samsung on android.

Thanks in advance

Depends what you use your phone and tablet for, what operating system the tablet is running etc. If the tablet runs Windows 10, even on tablet mode, then yes, get an antivirus (although in most cases Windows Defender is sufficient).

For phones less so, Android and iOS are much more restrictive than a desktop operating system, normally you shouldn't need an antivirus, although viruses do exist for phones. Just don't do anything monumentally dumb like download executable files masquerading as .pdfs.

Not related whatsoever, but never do online banking (or really anything) on public wifi.

I’ve always assumed that iOS has its own antivirus protection which updates with the software updates.

But yeah, just stick to mainstream porn you pervert.

As long as you're running the standard operating system that came with your phone and you update the software when you can  then you didn't need anything like McAfee.

It's a con just uninstall it.
