Wolves play 3 at the back with wing backs - we would get taken apart out wide. We played 4-3-3 against Atalanta - a game specifically organised to prepare us for Wolves, as they also play 3 at the back. Don’t get me wrong, we will play the midfield diamond a lot this season (Brendan said in his Q&A with the fans last season that the 4-4-2 diamond is his preferred formation) but you won’t be seeing it on Sunday against Wolves, not from the start anyway. Told you it would be a 4-4-2 diamond....

Off the top of my head - we have the following players for a maximum of 3 places: Wilf Ndidi Hamza Papy Mendy Matty James Andy King Adrien Silva Youri Tielemans Dan Amartey Dennis Praet James Maddison Leshabela Marc Albrighton That's not including Ghezzal, Gray and Barnes who can be seen as midfielders too. So, how is Brendan going to keep this bunch happy? Surely we have to offload Kingy, James and Silva as a minimum and maybe Mendy too? King, Ghezzal, and Silva don't have a role on this team. Leshabela is learning the Prem, neither does he most likely. 80% neither does Matty James, but he is a good squad player. Mendy is too good to sit and needs to be sent to L1. Gray is difficult. I don't see a role for him, but after watching g1 vs. Wolves, we don't have any flair players on the pitch really. Barnes approximates one in a sense, but he is more athletic than tricky. So Gray may be someone BR keeps around to try to get something out of. Everyone else has a real shot to play each week except Amartey, who I would personally keep bc of his talent and positional flexibility.
